Princess Ship Alteration Rumours

Well, it has been rumoured for some time but the news section of Cruise Critic has broken a story about the alterations proposed to the Grand Princess in her upcoming drydocking which includes the removal of her iconic 'Shopping Cart Handles' :eek: including Skywalker's Bar.

 

I wonder what she will look like after this drastic change and I also wonder if they will follow suit with the other Grand Class Ships (Golden Princess & Star Princess).

 

Earlier rumours said that these structures both increased fuel consumption and produced undue stress on several areas of the ship's hull.

 

I'd be interested to know what others think???:confused:

The Grand Class...

Well, we cruised on Star Princess,which is the same and found that SkyWalkers being "stuck" up like a shopping trolley handle ,cast a perpetual shadow on the rear decks.

Note... with Diamond and Sapphire , and the new builds after that , Skywalkers was moved back to let the sun shine in, and it made a world of difference.

Wonder if thats what is behind the change?

The Princess press release mentioned that removing Skywalkers would improve feul usage

As Paul said its official they are removing it, but there have been no talks of removing Skywalkers on the Golden, Star or Caribbean, the Skywalkers on those three use lighter materials vs the heavier materials used on the Grand

We are on the Star Princess in six weeks so we will ask around if she is also down for a facelift and tuck around her butt.

Only Grand Princess at this stage having 'Skywalkers' removed from stern. A pity one of the best locations on the ship, for night club, meet and greets and just viewing.
