Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted March 7, 2011 #129 Share Posted March 7, 2011 Perhaps they could try something REALLY new... They could ANCHOR it a few miles offshore (pick your spot) and have high speed shuttles to/from it that could take people out for any duration - 1 night, 2, 8... Perhaps every now and then they could go out for a real cruise, or vice versa! A floating casino :D Tom

kgm0612 Posted March 7, 2011 #131 Share Posted March 7, 2011 Being from New England, I'd vote for Boston too, but doubt that will happen! LOL I attended the AAA Travel Show this past weekend in Foxboro MA, hoping to get some info from the Carnival reps regarding the itinerary (Mediterranean) for the Breeze next June 2012. Unfortunately, they were hush-hush. Nick, the rep from Carnival, said look for information on the Breeze to be released shortly after the Magic makes her debut. We asked how fast she filled up for the Med itinerary this year, and he did tell us that there was still plenty of cabins available for all 2011 Med. sailings. Karen Carnival may think twice about Med cruises. With all of the price drops for what should be busy summer Med cruises on the Magic, they may be having problems operating the ships at capacity. I would think that Boston and NYC only qualify for part-time host cities for ships for summer and fall itineraries. Galveston is getting the Crown Princess and the Magic. That must make for a lot of happy Texans. We were on the Crown Princess and loved it and we're going on the Magic this summer. If I had to bet, I'd say the Breeze ends up in Fort Lauderdale or Miami (whichever one the Dream is not at).

Well I don't know about Boston but Carnival could sail year round out of NYC, both NCL & RCI do so Carnival could easily do this

With all of the price drops for what should be busy summer Med cruises on the Magic, they may be having problems operating the ships at capacity. I booked our Magic Europe cruise the day it came out. I am on the June 12th 12 day run. So far I have upgraded from an Aft Balcony to a Spa Balcony and have had the price drop $700 on top of that. We are right at final payment so it will be interesting to see what happens next. There are a lot of factors at play, but we are having fun on our roll call speculating. I am very interested to see what the Breeze does, because I think that will say a lot. I for one wish they would leave a ship or two over there, but I don't think it will happen. Cupcrazy Posted March 7, 2011 #137 Share Posted March 7, 2011 Since it can't be in Toronto I'm going to have to say South Florida. I'd prefer either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale.
toad455 Posted March 7, 2011 #138 Share Posted March 7, 2011 I'll add New York, with Fort Lauderdale & New Orleans as my runners-up. I'd eliminate the following: Galveston - has the Magic (soon). Port Canaveral - has the Dream Tampa - won't fit under the bridge. Jacksonville - port is too small. San Juan, PR - *see Jacksonville(I think). Mobile - *see Jacksonville. any west coast port(LA, San Diego) - too much hassel to send it over.

Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted March 8, 2011 #141 Share Posted March 8, 2011 sunshine....miami:) The Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area is the BEST place in the U.S. to live for a cruiser! We lived in Tallahassee, FL until 2006 at which point we moved to about 20 minutes from Pt. Canaveral. That also puts us within a couple of hours (easy drive) from Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, and Miami. Without a doubt, part of our decision of where to move was based on proximity to cruise ports (and we did not want to live as far south as you)! :) Tom

firstcruiser2010 Posted March 8, 2011 #149 Share Posted March 8, 2011 Tampa! We would love to have another Carnival ship there! Miami would be great to as well as Port Canaveral. Would have been great with any of them if we would have had a governor who supported the high speed rail! Imagine the increase business in the cruise industry. Just hop on the rail and you can be at any of the three major ports in little over a couple of hours at the most! To bad, good bye jobs, opportunity, tourism .........
