Most interesting cabin "neighbors"

A few cruises back, we were assigned a cabin that was "adjoining" with the one next door. We didn't know those folks, but they must have been REALLY religious, because the woman kept yelling "OH GOD,,,,,OH GOD" over and over again at all hours? It went from annoying, to really funny by the time the cruise was over! (Nope,,we never did see 'em in the hall.) :D

"SKY"

You should have knocked on the adjoining door and asked if you could pray with them! ;):D

Either a watch or cell phone alarm.

beep,beep...beep,beep...beep,beep...beep,beep...

They had set the alarm for an early excursion. They were awake and out the door before the alarm even went off and forgot to turn the alarm to off.

We finally got up after about 20 minutes, went and ate breakfast and when we went back to the cabin to get our stuff for the day it was still beeping. Still beeping when we returned in the afternoon.

Just an honest mistake but very annoying.

Have only had annoying neighbors one time. In the room next door, there were 2 adults and 2 small children who were cruising with another family with two small children. For two mornings, the kids would be up very early and in the hallway playing and laughing and running. My daughter was annoyed as she is not an early riser. That night when we came back to the room she started making a lot of noise. I told her to be quiet as the people next door were probably asleep. She shouted she did not care, that she could not sleep in the morning because of those loud kids playing in the hallway. Needless to say the last 3 mornings of the cruise we did not hear those kids.

We were next door to a 'screamer' who also complimented her companion in loud and graphic terms on his skill and dexterity. This went on every night and sometimes during the day too. I strongly suspect she was a 'pro' and if so, she certainly earned a LOT during that trip.

If that kind of thing becomes intolerable then I find a quick phonecall to the cabin in question does the trick. It's all in the timing ;)

I should tell one story, not a problem with my neighbors, but...

Long ago, on the Norway, the lower decks had little entry ways for two or three cabins off the main hallway. We had met a newlywed couple across from us...very young (20...maybe 21). One night I came in from the Casino to my room, and the poor boy was sleeping in the little entry way to our rooms with a little blanket and pillow. The new bride would not let him into their room, but she gave him the blankey and pillow.

I felt so sorry for the boy, that I invited him into our room to sleep on the couch for the night, so he did. Somewhere about 3:00 am, new bride is looking for her new hubby and he ain't sleeping in the hall where he was suppose to be. She freeks, starts screaming bloody murder, raising the biggest ruckest, and woke everybody up.

New hubby, on our couch, busts open our door, runs into her arms, and all I hear is "Oh, i'm so sorry", no "I'm so sorry" yaddah, yaddah!

We did not hear from or see them the rest of the cruise.

Oh my goodness, that is so funny!!!

This has been mentioned before.. we've had neighbors that liked to communicate by yelling across our balcony at eachother. It was two families with children. The children were yelling across the balconies and my father was outside trying to read and said something to them, and the parents came out and got really mad.

We've also had neighbors with a connecting door... they fought quite frequently in Spanish. It was a young couple with a toddler. Whenever they fought, the toddler would scream.

What wonderful stories... at least now they are! I've never had the holy couple or the screaming kids next door. The only thing close was one short cruise the hallway seemed to be a meeting place for teens... They would be "hanging" and rather loud. A call to security on the second night around 3 am did a bit for about 15 minutes and back they were. So I opened the door with bed hair, wild eyes and a rather loud "Heeereee's Johnny"... I guess they watched horror movies as the group wandered away quickly... they found another place to hang. BTW what are 13-15 year olds doing in the hallway at 3 am... I guess not bothering THEIR parents. LOL

We still had a wonderful time.

We had a loud domestic dispute next door. We could hear every word (mostly inappropriate words) and lots of banging, which I'm sure everyone for several cabins down could as well.

I think maybe the anticipation of the whole trip builds so high that if the slightest thing goes wrong it is a huge disappointment & fights break out. Not to mention there's too much alcohol involved sometimes:rolleyes:

Their problem was all about money. Too bad they just couldn't enjoy it since they had already paid.

One morning my wife complained about the neighbors that were fighting last night. I explained that I never heard a thing. Must have slept through it.

The next night she woke me up telling me they were at it again! That's when I hade to tell her to listen a little closer. They were not fighting at all! In fact, I think they were rather enjoying themselves as I am sure you understand! We laughed for a little while and then decided to "Fight" a little ourselves. I am certain they received just as much of an ear full and maybe a little more!

The last cruise I was on, our cabin had a connecting door. Had 3 older ladies (must have been hard of hearing) sharing a cabin next door, think they were part of a family gathering. We had to cut our TV on the same station as theirs, they kept theirs so loud and we couldn’t get ours to out do theirs, talking about snoring!!!!!!!!!! I will never let a cruise line pick our cabin for us, no mater the savings, no more connecting doors for us!

I try not to get a connecting cabin.. Our one and only time with a connecting room you heard just about everything they did..:eek:

We were on Royal Caribbean a few years ago. Had 2 cabins. Triple for us & our younger daughter & double for my other daughter & her friend (both either 12 or 13 y.o.). Older girls were in the cabin next to our BUT on the other side was a connecting cabin. The very first night, during dinner they shared some stories about their neighbors (2 gay guys). As stories were getting progressively more X-rated, I went to customer service and asked them if they can do something about it. They offered to move my girls to some cabin on the other side of the deck. When I said that it's not acceptable as they are way too young and why won't they move 2 guys, I was told that guys NEVER complained about any "noise" in my girl's cabin. I WONDER WHY??? :D

I had the last cabin on Lido deck and the nice amenity about that cabin is you have no one above you or beside you on one side. This left below and the other side. I had a very LOUD foreign couple staying next to me, but the problem was they were with a bigger group and they had a few other cabins down as well. I constantly heard the balcony door open and slam, they would slam the doors to the closets, and OMG were they LOUD!!!! and I mean LOUD!!!!! I have no clue what language they spoke, but they never talked in a normal tone and to make things worse their cigarettes were truly horrible. I have never smelled a cigarette that bad.....thankfully I wasn`t out very often when they did smoke those horrid things...

As for the thin walls--uhm, ya, had that happen, but thankfully she was a moaner and not screamers....I never saw the couple so had no idea of their ages....

I`m sure on the last cruise I went on the neighbors didn`t think much of us, ha ha ha, we all thoroughly enjoyed the free drinks at John Heald`s Farewell party for the Bloggers group (we were part of John`s 4th bloggers cruise) and then proceeded to go back to the free cocktail party and send a few more back...honestly I haven`t a clue how many I really had, but all I remember is I had a problem reading the menu as the items on the menu kept moving, or perhaps it was my eyes, and I had a fit of the gigglies....couldn`t stop giggling....We were quite loud for a little while on the balcony that night......ha ha ha *BG*

On our last cruise we had neighbors (our friends) with kids...around 4:00 AM one morning we heard a loud bang and then crying. One of the kids fell out of their bunkbed. The parents calmed her down and tried to get her to lay down in bed with them. However, they hit her head into the bunk above their bed by accident and the crying started all over again...poor girl.

On my first cruise out of New Orleans there were two groups of gang bangers on board. The men managed to all get thrown off the ship before it even left the dock, fighting over bar turf (DA's)The remaining scag girl friends from one gang were in cabins just down from mine. Second day out they managed to all get confined to their cabins for the remainder of the cruise. Guards were posted outside their doors 24/7. It was the quietest cruise ship hall that I have ever been on.
