Wonder why they would have to replace a propeller?:confused:

I suspect they are not replacing it just yet. Maybe the faulty pod cavitates to much with the prop on, and they have removed it until the pod can be replaced. Just my guess. I am not a cruise ship repair man, nor do I pretend to be. lol

Hi all, we're sailing the end of April on Explorer. I'm hoping it will be after the refit. We will have our 4yo with us. My wife and I have previously done smaller cruises on Monarch and Jewell.

Any tips or advice on the new refit would be greatly received.

We're staying in 6502 large ocean view room so again any pics etc would be great.

Whatever the problem was, it is now fixed so you and your little princesses will have a good time. We will be boarding her when you get off and we're not concern about the issue they had with the pods as safety is their #1 priority. Enjoy yourself and I'm looking forward to your comparison of RCI to Disney.

 

Even a bad day at sea is better than a good day on land :)

Oh I wasn't worried just wanted the cruise ship lingo explained. Lol. I was onboard the Disney magic when she lost one of her engines in 2008. Honestly people balked then cause we were late coming into Castaway Cay. My girls and I were actually praying for more engines to go so we didn't have to go back to port canaveral....lol. People were so awful. They gave obc and free bikes, rafts, etc on CC. Nice but I could be on that ship sailing around for days to no where!!!!! I just love cruising. I promise not to make a mess for you on the Explorer. I already have seen something's I like and I am not even onboard. I actually can't wait to see how I feel about it. I wanna find an alternative line I like to do when I just can't get On my first love!!!

Hi, I'll be going on the EOTS in October to Bermuda. Me my aunt and cousin are sharing a Junior suite. Do you think it's big enough for all three of us? We are requesting a sleeper sofa. How is this cruise? What is there to do on the ship, while at sea? I have never been on RCI only Celebrity. Thanks for the input.

 

 

Three people would be fine in a JS and some of the JS come with a sofa bed. Look at the deck plans online and find your room, if there's a little triangle symbol it means you have a sofa bed. If you don't have a triangle they will bring you a roll-away bed.

 

Don't know your age range, there will be plenty of activities to do during the day and you will find them in your daily cruise compass. Some activities would be bingo, trivia, all kind of seminars, mini golf, casino, slot tournaments, pool and hot tubs, shuffleboard, movies in their screening room, live champagne art auction, ice skating sessions and people watch, etc. They will have many activities during the day at the pool. You may also have a guest speaker on the history and culture of Bermuda before your arrival in Bermuda.

 

There is one specialty restaurant called Portofino's and it's $25 pp, food is very good at Portofino's and if interested, I would suggest making a reservation. Check out the view in the ladies room by Portofino's on Deck 11.

We just finished a cruise to Bermuda on Explorer. After the BOGO promotion and Military discount, we were able to book a Owner's Suite (cabin 1600) for the cruise for a very reasonable price... Very nice..... The largest we every had before was a Jr Suite and the Owner's Suite is about twice as large. I took a quick video of the cabin and put it on YouTube. If you want to see what the Owner's Suite looks like on the Explorer,

Thanks for posting the link. That's the closest that I'll ever get to a suite. I'll just have to be content with our usual balcony cabins.

What do people usually use to decorate their doors with? Tape, stickers, magnets? No idea what explorer doors are made of.

when we went on the enchantment in early December, we used a big Christmas bow on the door handle and Christmas themed magnet tings similar to window cling (walmart pretty inexpensive) it made finding our room very easy in the middle of what seemed like a hundred similar doors.

 

we are doing it again this year on the explorer except with fall Halloween since we are going I October.

If my DH wants to go to casino can you use cash or is it the sea pass?? Hoping cash cause sea pass would make it to easy to over spend

 

The casino takes cash. If you do want to get cash on your seapass in the casino, there is a 5% service charge.

Here is a link to their menu, and yes the skating is included in your cruise fare. You must wear long pants so be sure to take some. Check the skating times in the Cruise Compass. :)

Hey for those who have visited Bermuda lately, can you tell me where a place is that carry "ginger beer" & if I can bring it. Home with me? I know you can bring liquor onboard and they return to you before getting off the boat upon return to U.S.A. It's actually not beer but soda. Just called that. A friend wants me to get some to give to her hubby. He loves it.

 

Also since my mom has knee issues,how far is sea glass beach and can I get a wheelchair to borrow to walk that far???

Michelle, I bought Barritts ginger beer at Goslings on Front St. in Hamilton. It was carbonated so no problem bringing it back on board. Goslings did not have the brewed ginger beer. I can't tell you anything about the taste, but the recipient I gave it to said it was good.

 

The sea glass beach is in walking distance from the dockyard, may not be a good idea for your Mom to walk there. The locals in Bermuda don't like people taking their sea glass. Here's a post explaining how to get to the sea glass beach from the Dockyard. There is also a beach in St. George that has sea glass, it's the second post below.
