Those dasterdly flash mobs! Injecting song and dance to Celebrity. Pretty soon passengers will begin interacting and having a grand ole time and then where will be? Smack dab in the middle of fun town thats where. If some have there way there will be a Celebrity border patrol to send us havoc wreakers back to Carnival.:eek:

There were FAR more passengers than staff participating. Hard for me to understand what is wrong with singing and dancing, to happy, upbeat music. I hope to NEVER be so stuffy that I can't appreciate this kind of fun.

Just because Celebrity is a more "classy and elegant" cruiseline does not mean that it's also the cruiseline where fun goes to die for heavan's sake. It's a miniscule portion of the whole cruise, one that passengers enjoy...I know this, I was on the ship.... If it's so horrific to some than go to another part of the ship for that small bit of time.... ME? I'll be dancing, and laughing and having fun...something I thought vacations were supposed to be about!!

Although I can't speak towards the "cruise ship flash mob", since I have never seen one - I would be all for flash mobs in general, if it was simply for the sake of having fun. Most of them, however, are just a bunch of kids with nothing to do and who are demanding everyone's attention. It's the "look at me" attitude that I find annoying, I guess.

The flash mob

from Belgium is still my favorite... ignore the ad at the beginning and watch... hope you smile as much as I did the first time I saw it! I would guess just about everyone has seen it, but if you haven't, take a few minutes to watch it.

Our famous station flash-mobs make me proud to be a Belgian! :)

Fantastic! ;)

I'm with you. It certainly wouldn't ruin my cruise, but I could definitely do without this stuff. When I pick Celebrity, I am looking for a classier, more laid back atmosphere. These flash mob events do not fit that model. I can only cringe when I think of what 'creative' ideas they will come up with next. :(

Holy Cow -- next thing you know, we'll be doing the damn Macarena again!

Thx, Ned

That video from the Solstice looks like great fun... I would love to see one of these in person.

I've just suggested this to our group of over 100 cruise critic members signed up for the Celebrity Connections party on Constellation's Sept 19th sailing out of Istanbul.

Call me a rebel!

I suppose that since I threw the gauntlet I will have to come up with a suitable routine and song.... any help/suggestions for a song and dance?

We didn't see this on our April sailing but here is one from the Solstice casino.

LUV IT! Hope they 'surprise' us with one on the Eclipse this Nov. Guess you have to be in the right place at the right time. Would hate to miss it!

I wouldn't confuse a 'dancing flash mob' with one that is inciting riots, breaking windows, etc. If the kids want to dance, lettem!! and me with them.

"Even if this was not a law, which it is, I'm afraid I would have a lot of difficulty endorsing an enterprise which is as fraught with genuine peril as I believe this one to be. Besides the liquor and the drugs which always seem to accompany such an event the thing that distresses me even more, Ren, is the spiritual corruption that can be involved. These dances and this kind of music can be destructive, and, uh, Ren, I'm afraid you're going to find most of the people in our community are gonna agree with me on this."

What!! Since when has dancing been outlawed. And since when does it have to involve liquor and drugs! I will dance at the drop of a hat and I am NOT an imbiber of either. Count me off your list.

LOL!!

I didn't really think anyone would think I was SERIOUS.

It's a quote from Footloose. CruzBuds is the king/queen of eighties trivia.

I thought it was appropriate with the "If the kids want to dance, let them!!" :)

That is a very true statement.

I was worried for a moment you left CC forever, counting me out as a crazy person.

Nah!! Actually I was very relieved that you were joking. What a shame if these boards had attracted someone really like that.

This looks such fun, hope they do it on Eclipse in June. I too hate joining in with silly competitions etc although don't mind trivia, but would join in with this as it is so amusing and does not last long.

I would love to be a part of something like this. Sure hope they do it on the Silly. Don't see the harm, do see a lot of fun.:)
