rkacruiser Posted November 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2011 That was more than I think I have ever heard from a ship! I wonder who the Captain is? He must enjoy this as much as we do!
May4 Posted November 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2011 Nice to have the sound back after a few days without it for us. The Nieuw Amsterdam did alright for herself too:)

Modern_Viking Posted November 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2011 It seems like Capt. van Zaane is fond of performing whistle salutes with pilot boats, other Carnival company ships, the Port Everglades condo buildings, etc. It can be lots of fun. The most whistle blowing I have heard, however, was between the Oosterdam and the Amsterdam in Sitka, Alaska. By the end of the salute, the pressurized air canister on the Oosterdam seemed to be running on empty. The whistle sounded for so long it just couldn't perform any more. I didn't hear the Westerdam today, so I have no idea if she suffered the same fate. (It anyone has a recording, it seems it would be a popular thing to post!) Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted November 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 28, 2011 I agree that was quite the show of the Westerdan tooting her horn today. I wondered if it was Captain PJ or Captain Harris. My guess PJ ;) I just have 111 days till I get to sail out of Port Everglades on the Westerdam.

VermeulT Posted November 28, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 28, 2011 It was Capt PJ. When we left Half Moon Cay on Saturday - he & the capt of the Prinsedam had quite a blowing competition also. It was great fun!
