Orator Posted December 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2011 Just off Constellation. Felt sorry the Concierge when one woman requested a map of Barcelona and then complained that that was not the map she wanted since "all of the street names were in Spanish" and that she didn't understand Spanish. She demanded one with the street names in English. This is an absolutely true story. Remco is a wonderful Concierge and a fan of Cruise Critic. Denny01 Posted December 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2011 A few months ago, I posted a list of complaints I read in some reviews. Here they are along with my thoughts: - the walls in my SR made crackling noises. In bad wx you could hear the crackling all around the ship. -- Yes and the ship moves and rolls around some...it's floating in the ocean. - dinner was served in the same dining room every night. -- and they had to stay in the same SR every night too! (this may have been my favorite) - no waterpark, watersides, mini-golf -- maybe read the brochures -I saw staff using the elevator -- and staff was all over the place serving drinks, food, cleaning. Why are they out in public areas?? - during the entire cruise we never found a place to sit at the buffet and waited for 15min, and never a place to sit for a show half hr before the start. -- No comment on "entire cruise" complaints that aren't plauseable. - unfriendly staff. Needed an umbrella none in my room so went to the service desk and they had no more. Said had to have one so she gave him hers. -- What was the complaint again about "unfriendly staff"? - we could hear furniture being moved around on deck above and complained. Gave us free night at specialty restaurant and offered another room. The seemed 'indifferent' to our complaint. -- Free dinner and a different room. What did they want instead? - The Asst Cruise Dir was too old putting on her phony face smiling at us but smirking behind our backs. -- always wanted to be able to see behind my back. - An "Eastern European waitress" lectured me about sharing my drink package. -- Yup, hate it when a Bulgarian lectures me. Much better if it was a Iranian. -The staff was from over 100 countries and were rude and arrogant. Fellow passengers were rude and very arrogant. -- And my wife was rude and very very arrogant and the people on our flight were rude and very very very arrogant, and.....get the picture who is rude and arrogant. - I told the Casino to not give me any money but they said they would. -- and I told the waiter to not serve me any food, and told the steward not to make up my room, and .... - I really can't think of any positives. -- Anybody just watch "The Grinch" this holiday?? JanineM Posted December 4, 2011 #8 Share Posted December 4, 2011 We encountered more complainers on our Millie cruise two weeks ago than on any other cruise. And I must be getting old because I just want to smack people who complain about stupid things like the OP and Denny01 posted ... or my favourite, how many "foreigners" there are when traveling to a foreign country. Any way CC can arrange a group cruise for those with common sense, a sense of humour and good manners?

It'll probably have to split into 3 groups...Whiners, weiners and winners But who or how do we qualify folks?
julia Posted December 4, 2011 #10 Share Posted December 4, 2011 Just off the Constellation myself and can attest to the above post. It was a "complainer's paradise" and I have never sailed with a crankier group. Yes, there were some problems onboard. BIG DEAL. The whining was far worse than any problems. Rare ghstudio Posted December 4, 2011 #11 Share Posted December 4, 2011 Heard on a transatlantic from florida to Europe: Complaint: "I have no sun on my balcony" response (should have been): "I'll ask the captain if he can turn the ship around and sail to Europe backwards." AGGSBAGGS Posted December 4, 2011 #12 Share Posted December 4, 2011 We are just of Millie and had a brilliant time. We loved the cosmos lounge. We wanted to use it when the Karaoke was on. We ignored the bad singing cos we liked that area, but the couples next to us must moaned the whole time. We wished they had moved cos they moaned the whole time. It was advertised that the karaoke was on, so why did they go there for a drink? Allison

Julia, I think moods can be very contagious. Someone who may normally be a fun loving person can get easily caught up in a negative vibe of an unhappy ship. chief joe Posted December 4, 2011 #17 Share Posted December 4, 2011 Put me in for the no whiners cruise. We were on a cruise years ago and a bunch were whining about going to Roatan and Belize, then later found out their company paid for the whole lot of them to go on the cruise. Someone who may normally be a fun loving person can get easily caught up in a negative vibe of an unhappy ship. Seriously? Positive people, stay positive, no matter what occurs. You make lemonade out of lemons. We've witnessed numerous negative situations, and heard volumns of negative complaints, but not once did it ever sway our positive outlook. If your in a negative situation....walk away. It's a choice.

It's a choice. Karynanne, there is a thread on cruise critic that illustrates my point. A few years ago it was topic oriented but subsequently became a support group for people with personal problems. Even the posters who appeared to be upbeat at one time now do nothing but complain on that thread.

CathyCruises Posted December 5, 2011 #25 Share Posted December 5, 2011 Haha:p While we're on the subject, how about young, obviously able bodied people who take the elevator one floor DOWN! Saw so much of that!! I however only mumbled to myself, and now y'all--but come on!!! I was in the elevator with two 30 something guys with plates full of French Toast doing it--arrgghhh!!! No wonder the elevators seem slow! But I would never come on CC and start a thread about it--I was just thinking about complainable issues--which this of course is not!
