Thanks, Lisa.

I've never gotten such a call but it must be because we have used the same PCC for years.

I can only imagine your shock to be told that person was Your PCC !! :)

That had to be interesting.

The day it happened I wanted to come in here and start a thread about it but thought better of it because it could get me into trouble :o So kept quiet.

HAL does make them attempt to cold call solicit but I think mostly to those that have the Future Cruise Deposits. But then HAL is not nearly as bad as Carnival. OMG if they get a hold of your phone number because you called asking about a cruise it's like walking on to a used car lot :D

I've had the same experience with Carnival and Princess after making inquiries online. They get your number and then hound you.

Sadly you can't wave the 'do not call list' flag as you have done business with them so they are exempt from the requirement to not call.

What a pain to have a nag bothering you constantly despite your request to be left alone.

This is only a guess but my experience with my PCC. When I have booked with him he always thanks me and says that he understands if I want to move the booking later to a TA because of possible OBC's they can offer. So, I am thinking they get credit for the original booking but don't lose anything if it is transferred out after. Make sense?

Yes, they do and it is not taken away. They also understand that many travel agents can offer groups/lower pricing that they cannot..

HAL is actually one of the cruise lines that stongly promote travel agencies. Now Carnival itself would just as soon they go away:rolleyes:

We actually learned this when we booked a cruise to the Amazon directly through HAL..I was recovering from an illness at home & spending lots of time on CC..Everyone was mentioning that you could get a less expensive fare with a Travel Agent & I did not believe them..;)

We & our Friends had booked two outside cabins directly with HAL on Dolphin Deck..So just for the fun of it, I went on the WEB site which advertised on Cruise Critic & asked for a price on our cruise..Was I amazed when the price quoted for a similar outside cabin on Main Deck rather than Dolphin Deck was almost $1000 less..:D

I even called HAL & spoke to a Supervisor..He explained to me that HAL could not compete with their high producing Agents especially ones with group space..He encouraged me to transfer our booking to the Travel Agent which we all did..

I should have known, as this is exactly what we did in the Airline business..Dumb me!

Anyway we now are happy with our great agent who gives us good service & the lowest fare..:):)

Cheers...:)Betty

But you can tell them to stop calling.

I'm not sure about other states but in Wisconsin if you ask to be removed from a calling list they are required to do so. Even if you have done business with them in the past.

Yes, you certainly can ask.

Gauging from the comments re: Carnival reps, it doesn't sound like that always meets with success but one can try. :D
