What was your favorite destination

A tough question when you have been to many ports. We can certainly list a few including Istanbul and Venice. We also enjoyed Sydney and Shanghai. There are just so many amazing cruise ports around the world including some interesting scenic cruise places like cruising through Glacier Bay or the Fjords of South Island, New Zealand. Most cruisers start in the Caribbean (which we still love) but the world outside of the typical Caribbean ports is a goal worth achieving.

All the ports I listed do have something in common....in that cruise ships actually are able to dock in the cities. They are also very scenic ports when cruising in or out.

Venice, Santorini, Malta, Dubrovnik, Amsterdam,Vigo, Dublin, Inverary and Martinique. And why?- amazing sail in/outs; interesting things to see and do; local food and drink to enjoy (try the white wine on Malta and Santorini- and the Guinness in Dublin!) Martinique was all about the volcano, as is Santorini....try sailing through the Messina straits to see Stromboli erupt and Etna produce steam.

My favorite destination is the ship itself!!!:D Could care less if I ever make port, just being on the ocean and cold chillin' is the best... Every port has it's own personna and any you pick will be great if your with someone you love... Enjoy you cruise and welcome to your hubby to the wonderful world of cruising!!! C.G.

It's so hard to pick but if I had to, I'd say Stockholm for the beauty, the archipelago (worth waking up at 4 to see) and the amazingly friendly people. Another on my list was Wales. Unspoiled, not many tourists and utterly lovely.

There are so many fantastic places to see and I am lucky to have been to many of them, but only a few of them on cruises. it is a difficult question to answer as everybody has different likes and dislikes.

On our Caribbean cruises I would probably say my favourite destinations have been Dominica and Cartagena, but my OH would say Grenada and St Lucia. Even the two of us have different likes and dislikes. However, we agree on our least favourites which are Aruba and St Maarten, both over commercialised and full of loud, partying people. We like to party, but not outrageously.

Last December we went on a Canary Islands cruise which also stopped in Oporto, Vigo and Madeira. I had lived in the Canaries for about 13 years so was interested in finding out which ports he had enjoyed the most. I expected him to say Tenerife or Madeira, because of the beauty of the islands, but, no, he said Lanzarote. Lanzarote is a volcanic island with a lunar like landscape and no high rise buildings as they are not permitted.

I was surprised by his answer and when I asked why, he said because it is totally different to anywhere else he had been. We had also had a nice day with a friend of mine who lives there who came in her car to pick us up, show us around the island and have a lovely lunch of wine and tapas in La Geria, the wine growing area.

So, everywhere is different, you just have to go and see them and if you are not impressed, well, you just never go back.

We have been blessed to sail to many of the world's great cities, so it is difficult to name one or two.

Our favorite place was Egypt. We saw so many historical places that we had read about all of our life.

So far Venice is our favorite to sail in or out of.

Santorini is probably the prettiest place I have been

All but one of our cruises has been to the Caribbean. Of those, my favorite port of all is Royal Caribbean's private beach at Labadee. My favorite itinerary is the Southern Caribbean.

Our lone non-Caribbean cruise was Canada/NE, and we loved that itinerary too, especially Halifax, Bar Harbor and Boston.

Our best was Saint Petersburg Russia I never thought I would get a chance to spend two days and see so much of this wonderfull city.

Have to agree that going to St. Peterburg was very special. Growing up in Cold War ... never thought I'd actually be able to go to Russia.

Gosh, we've been lucky enough to cruise or go to many places and have seen lots of the world.

Silly as it may seem to most ... all we want to do NOW is go where we have the most fun which is the Caribbean! :D

because it lacked what makes so many places tiresome; huge crowds, tacky shops, pushy vendors and fake experiences. Antarctica is the real deal. The air is so clear you can see for miles and to stand on the continent is to get a glimpse of what the world looked like when it was new.

I don't have that many cruises yet but in the Caribbean my favourite has been Puerto Rico and in the Mediterranean it was Rome.

I've got about a dozen cruises on my bucket list so ask me again in ten years and I might have more favourites :p

All of them! :D It's so much fun to see the world, meet new people and experience new cultures. We've put a good dent in our bucket list, but when DH retires, we'll really be on the move!

At this point, our African safari is probably my favorite destination. We hope to do an African river cruise to experience it from a different perspective. A cruise is the perfect "preview of coming attractions". You get a snapshot that helps determine whether you want to go back to spend more time. :)

We have many places we hope to go oneday, but currently cruise short trips that are within driving distance due to having a little one. My favorite so far has been St. Maarten. The people were incredibly friendly, there was beautiful scenery, and it was easy to experience on our own. In addition, it was clean and felt safe, at least in the areas we visited. We loved it so much that we are going back next year, only on a different ship.
