Everything Breakaway!(LIVE on 4/28)

loungerz

Recommended Posts

This is probably a stupid question, but this is the first time I'm cruising not as a couple. There are 3 of us in a mini. I never needed the bed separated before. Is this something you request beforehand, or just tell the steward on sailing day?

I am guessing it's the sailing day, but I wanted to be sure.

Thanks

Fair enough, I understand your point, but we'll just have to agree to disagree ;)

I am not understanding why people think they are entitled to a lounger just because they have a larger balcony? If they want a larger balcony with a lounger pay for an Aft Penthouse - thats what we did:D

I totally agree with you. My mother is taking my sister's family and my family this summer, 4 balcony cabins, 10 of us, OBC to get the UBP, excursions, etc. and just because she paid lots of money does it mean she should feel entitled too? Oh well. I was surprised to read that from joeski (sorry spelling) since I've been following the threads but I guess some will just feel the need to do as they wish. Enjoy your cruises with little balconies, windows, insides or suites :)

I dont think people feel entitled for a lounge chair. I think a balcony is something people really enjoy and prefer a lounge chair compared to a small sit down chair. I say if it can fit, then there should not be a problem.

On Epic, we had a 2 bedroom suite and it was no easy task to get a lounger. But we finally got one. I dont think of a lounger being a luxury item on a cruise ship.

Which is what we booked as well.

Though it seems if a (non-suite) balcony is REALLY large enough to comfortably fit a couple of loungers, the cruise line should have them there as a standard feature. Of course... that might mean that having a lounger there causes that guest to relax, read a book, take a nap. You know, so that they are not out and about (in a shop, in the casino, at a bar) spending $$$. If you're in a suite, perhaps they figure they've already taken a good bite out of you.

Having said that, we've twice sailed in a "2-Bedroom Family Villa" on the Epic that honestly had one of the smallest (suite) balconies we've ever "enjoyed".

Really looking forward to our deck 9 S6 on the Breakaway. I've never really looked at photos of the aft penthouses that were on the Epic, but my guess (just from seeing the deck plans and photos of the ship from a distance) is that they were not very spacious. NCL has thus improved these cabins by putting them on the corners... our favorite place to sail!

LOL, this guy on the covered lounge doesn't look like he's having a great day. Looks like a guy you'd see on a bench at a mall who looks very tired, stressed, and annoyed as he waits for his shop-o-holic wife to finish blowing all his money. :D

He just saw the size of his balcony

Excuse me, but those of us who spent the extra money for the larger balconies would like to actually be able to use and enjoy them to the fullest extent (i.e. to get our money's worth) them in some way other than sitting two tiny chairs and a laughably small Smurf table. That's just like if someone paid the big bucks for a huge suite, but then found out they only put the same amount of furnishings in it as the do a normal cabin. And in both cases, by all means explain to me what exactly one paid for? Just the added space to "walk around" or stand in? With all due respect, please don't go all extreme and start tossing around the "entitlement" word, no need for that.

I don't wish to be argumentative...but are there any areas that list what balcony furnishings are included in an Aft Penthouse? I suppose there could be but I haven't seen one.

I also don't think it is a question of people feeling entitled to anything. There is already a history of Norwegian (and other cruise lines) supplying loungers for balconies that can accommodate them size-wise. So why wouldn't they just do it up front and save on all the extra work for the stewards and others in getting them?

Hey Swim, nice to see you around this area :).

Hey Gambee! I've been following the Breakaway thread a lot lately, I love any new cruise ship and of course I know you are going on it soon so I've been preparing myself for your review! :D

I want to go on this ship but it's just too expensive right now, its a good price every month I'm in school, of course!

It's just an upstate thing, on LI it's soda... :-)

Woah Woah Woah, I'm in the hudson valley and we don't call it pop. As a matter of fact I've been from NYC to Buffalo and from Albany to Lake George and I've never heard anyone in NY call it pop.

Is the Harborfront in Hamilton? reservations needed. sounds great!

On outskirts of Hamilton - it's at the BUEI (Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute) - it's on waterfront. They have Happy Hour Sushi M-F from 5pm to 6:30pm where most sushi items and selected wines/beer/hiballs/sake are at $4.95.

No ressies needed unless you are a large party. They have booths (seats 4), tables and bar.

Harbourfront also has dining room.

Us Canadians call it pop, you didn't come far enough north ;)

When we booked 9 I factored that in. But frankly, I can't imagine any noise issues during times when we would be sleeping. Other times, when there might be noise (evening), I doubt we'd even be in the room!

Also, I desired deck 9 as it's an easy walk down the stairs to most of what we seek (decks 6,7, and 8). When we were in the Haven on the Epic (twice) the wait always seemed overly long for elevators from deck 17!!

The only drawback I see to being in an aft penthouse is the long trek to the Haven restaurant! (we don't hang by the pool or sit in the sun)

It would be nice to know what deck this photo (of S6) was taken, but it does not appear deep enough to be deck 9: (LINK)

If this furniture is on deck 13 S6 which people say is the most shallow balcony aft, wouldn't the other S6 suites have the same set up?

Maybe all the furniture hasn't been put in place yet. I can't imagine only this suite on 13 gets it.

So those in an aft Suite, I don't think you'll need to "reallocate" loungers from other areas of the ship.
