So What Time Do I Need To Be In My Chair?

Will be on the Breeze in a couple of months. We like the serenity deck as to avoid children. From what I understand they now monitor the chairs so someone can't save chairs for over 40 min. With this in mind, what is the latest I could get out there and get a chair? Anyone have any idea?

I wasn't that impressed with the Serenity deck on the Magic back in February. At the time we went up there, most of it was in the sun, which we didn't want. The chairs, etc. are too close together. I prefer to find a place on another deck out of the sun, where there were chairs and not that many people. We found a nice area aft, can't remember which deck it was, but no kids and had comfortable chairs and couches. It can be done! So don't worry about finding such a place.

If there is nothing in a chair but a towel or an odd shoe etc. I just move it and plop my behind down. If someone comes up and says they were "using" the chair I just tell them the crew moved it.

But really unless you are doing the weekender cruise it is very rare to have even the Serenity deck full....if you ever look at cruise pictures they rarely show any area of the ship "filled". The only time I ever see a "crowd" on the ship is during the muster drill and I've traveled on some big ships. (Oh, I've also seen crowds waiting for the elevators with all their screaming kids, strollers and all their luggage as they do self-debarkation).

Brenna has a smart Mom.

A person takes precedence over a towel or shoe. :)

With this kind of a plan is it really necessary to have a chair? Isn't the purpose of a chair to actually sit in it and enjoy some relaxing time?

Oh sorry, I guess for the selfish one's who don't really need a chair this doesn't matter.

Thank You... a person not just looking out for them self :) not for people looking for ways to save chairs for the whole day incase they may get tired of the casino.. or drink to much at the midnite comedy club and need to sit down..

See, I have the perfect plan. I pay for an IS cabin, but treat the serenity like it is my balcony cabin. 40 mins is plenty of time to go to my cabin, I always book on deck 9, take a shower and get back before my stuff is moved. I almost live in those chairs.

Only problem is that people keep wearing flip flops in MY MDR! Occassionally, someone tries waking me up and telling me to go to my real bed, but I shrug them off since I paid for my ticket and I will do whatever I feel like.

(Now, go back and read with complete sarcasm, cause daddy ain't doing that for a dang chair.)

This wasn't the case on the Pride last year. The only time we got to sit in anything on the Serenity was at sail off (October). We just tested out all the seating.

On a port day we stayed on the ship. We snagged a hammock, but really could have sat anywhere. That is until later in the day when everyone returned to the ship.

Like you, I avoid areas with children, since the serenity deck is normally full...I always go to the top deck in the aft of the ship! It's usually the least populated place to sit (in my opinion). I'm always able to find a nice, quiet spot there! Good luck!

I think it depends on the itinerary and where you sail from too. When I was on the Miracle in September, you had to be up and in a chair on Serenity by 8am to get a chair. There wasn't a CHOG problem...us pasty white New Yorkers were getting up early, getting our breakfast, and sitting in the chairs pretty much until it was time for dinner that evening. Nobody was out of a seat anywhere near the 40 minute time alotment. My sister and I were the exceptions, because we limit our sun...we'd be cooked by noon and leave. So the only shot a late riser had on the Serenity deck was if they happened to be looking when my sister and I were leaving.

I think what Carnival needs to observe from this is: bigger Serenity Decks.

(Note there were always plenty of deck chairs in the 'low rent' districts...upper areas away from the pool with no restrictions on children!)

Do what I plan on doing.. sit in the crappy chair and watch the good chair.. when 1 hour passes , pick up all the stuff on it and throw it over board.. unless its their S&S Card.. then buy the ship around of drinks first..

I love the Kitty Hawk listed in your cruises. You rock!
