Premium Tours has a variety of inclusive tour packages. I've used them a few times when I first went to London/Paris and was very pleased with their level of service and the guides knowledge of the sites. My first experience with them was on the recommendation of the hotel concierge, who booked a couple of our day trips. On later visits to the UK, I booked with Premium through their web site. I rememember going on a full day tour that included all of your travel wants - very intensive tour. They pick up and drop off at many London hotels.

Hi there, do any of you have any recommendations for a good private tour company to visit these sites?

When we were in London on our post cruise say, we wanted to visit these three sites also. We booked with Evan Evans Tours and were completely satisfied with them. they pick you up at any of several hotels around London, take you to the bus depot and there you board the sightseeing buses for the trip..

You say in your post you are looking for a private tour company. Does this mean you want just your own driver and a private tour, or a regular full tour company?

A friend of mine just booked this tour but with another company, fairly cheaper

http://www.citydiscovery.com/london_tours/day_trips_and_excursions_outside_the_city.

Most of those tours are all about the same. Figure you will be spending about 4 hours at Windsor, 2-3 at Bath and about an hour at Stonehenge.

Either bring a lunch, to purchase a lunch thru the travel company, or you can buy a lunch at Bath.

Again, we loved our time on this tour.

Here are a few of our pixs from this adventure

At Bath, viewing the main Roman bath house

[A wonderful little city to explore also

At Stonehenge, you can only get so close to the stones

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi! thank you all for your recommendationas.

Yes we are lookig for a smaller tour. 16 max

We have twice taken tours with International Friends:

http://www.internationalfriends.co.uk/index.php

We found both tours to be excellent. They use mini-buses and take a maximum of 16. They have pick-up locations in different parts of the city.

The reviews on Tripadvisor are great.

We are planning a trip next year to the same general area. Has anyone heard of Discover the South tours? We are looking for a private tour for 3 persons to go to Windsor, Stonehenge and New Forest. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

Discover the South are the private tour arm of West Quay Taxi's, Southampton's largest cab compamy.

They would be appropiate if you are returning to Southampton, but if you are returning to the ship Windsor is 2 hours drive on a good day from Bath and 90 minutes then back to Windsor. As Windsor closes by 5 p.m. you need to do Windsor first, the gates open at 9:45 a.m.

As H's post, Discover the South is part of www.westquaycars.com

Based in Southampton, West Quay Cars is frequently recommended on CC by folk using them for private transfers. They're well-established & well-regarded.

A lot of cruisers like to build sight-seeing into their transfers, and West Quay Cars has developed that side of their business by using their most knowledgeable & communicative drivers for their "Discover the South" arm. The drivers are drivers, not guides. But for the vast majority of cruisers this is a good bridge between a simple driver & a qualified guide.

Thank you both for the information. We will be flying to Heathrow with our sail from Southampton. We would go in a day or 2 early for the cruise so we would not have to visit all sites the same day and still make it to the ship.

Thank you again handfordr and JB for providing more insight on Discover the South.

Heathrow to Southampton is a bare minimum 75 minutes, though it can take up to two hours.

But Windsor is only 15-20 minutes from Heathrow, so makes a great deal of sense to incorporate Windsor into an airport transfer.

If your flight out of Heathrow is late in the day (after about 5pm) it's ideal to incorporate Windsor in that transfer, because any unforseen major delays on the drive from Southampton can simply be deducted from your time at Windsor. There are severe restrictions on private guides in Windsor Castle.

Alternatively, Stonehenge (plus Salisbury plus a corner of the New Forest) can be incorporated into an airport transfer to/from Southampton. It's even possible to add Windsor to that transfer/tour if you don't have a ship or plane to catch same-day, though that's probably a bit heavy after an overnight flight.

Salisbury, Stonehenge, New Forest & a number of other options are also perfectly sensible day-trips from a Southampton base.

JB :)
