golfpccc Posted January 20, 2013 #276 Share Posted January 20, 2013 Howdy, Carla! Long time no "see!" The fog is pretty thick here in Houston...glad it didn't interfere with ship arrivals this morning!:) Howdy Cindy--how about those Ags!!! Whoop!! Can't believe it is foggy in Houston, it is absolutely beautiful in Galveston. Bright and sunny skies, not a cloud to be seen. A little chilly, but very little wind. If it stays like this should be a beautiful sail away. Gigem!
Rudyard Posted January 20, 2013 #277 Share Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) The fog is pretty thick here in Houston...glad it didn't interfere with ship arrivals this morning!:) You're not kidding about the fog! I woke up early and decided to go pick up some groceries while everyone else was still asleep. Luckily I only had to drive a couple of miles as visibility was probably about 100 feet! It's not much better than that right now and I'm just a few miles south of Hobby Airport. My first thought when I got out in it was "There are probably going to be some anxious cruisers today". Glad it worked out for those sailing today. Edited January 20, 2013 by Rudyard
CGBCruiser Posted January 20, 2013 #278 Share Posted January 20, 2013 It's foggy down here too but it's already burning off. I figured it would be awful in Galveston, looked at the webcams and was pleasantly surprised! Glad for everyone sailing today!
Galveston Cruiser Posted January 20, 2013 #279 Share Posted January 20, 2013 Zero fog, 10 mile visibility and crystal clear on the island while the mainland had from zero visibility to 1/4 mile.

Bigtex1622 Posted January 20, 2013 #281 Share Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) Howdy again everyone, as you can tell we booked another cruise out of Galveston. We got tired of the same old routes, so we had to go to Carnival, they have a eastern Caribbean itinerary. Although, I found out that Royal has one out of New Orleans. Damn, and I booked where we do not get our deposits back. I wish Carnival CC page had a Texas Cruise Cam thread !- I really Miss all of you. Edited January 20, 2013 by Bigtex1622
Rancher Dave Posted January 20, 2013 #282 Share Posted January 20, 2013 Glad to see sun out. It was really foggy when I got out of bed. Cleaned up leaves and hoped when I looked at webcam I would see ship or ships. Yeah that makes it a nicer view.

ssb Posted January 20, 2013 #284 Share Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) We just left the Strand and are home, after dropping off friends at the terminal for Mariner and some shopping. It was a little crowded because Mariner had a mandatory Coast Guard inspection and cruisers were told they couldn't board until after 12:00. It is a beautiful day in Galveston. :D All the foggers should be here today. We won't go home next Sunday though after going to Strand, for we will be departing on the Mariner. TEXASMUNK Posted January 27, 2013 #286 Share Posted January 27, 2013 What a beautiful day! The cam shows blues skies and a breeze. Wish I was there! Will be in 8 weeks, but wanna be right now! Guessing since we had a mild end of January, we will get "surprised" with our annual two day ice storm in February this year.... But as others have said, spring is on its way! and none too soon! 56 days and counting!

hawlcruiser Posted January 27, 2013 #294 Share Posted January 27, 2013 Will be on the Mariner last day of March. Am looking forward to it! Hopefully the fog issue will be a non-issue! Makes for a much easier drive from east Texas. Last one a few weeks ago out of New Orleans was a very LONG drive. Anything is better than flying thought. TEXASMUNK Posted January 27, 2013 #295 Share Posted January 27, 2013 No fog complaints, only embark and disembark complaints. Coast Guard, it would appear, did another inspection last week....causing delays. Thus far, weather has been good,,,seems problems this year are all human related. Galveston Cruiser Posted January 27, 2013 #296 Share Posted January 27, 2013 Friends were off by 7:30 this morning. We are going to the port about 2pm, letting all the others who must be on board first get settled.

Easy when only a couple miles away. I like to head down to be among the first aboard giving myself some time in case we have any issues on drive down. Yesterday had water pump die in my ranch truck while hauling a huge load. Glad to get fixed on road and keep on going but a few hour delay. Instead of missing ship I give a it of time Justin case similar things happen. Of course truck has twice the miles. Oh we'll I guess we are six weeks from Spring Break. Hope to visit Galveston before then.
