sail7seas Posted November 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2012 What would you want HAL to do to really pamper you if they were serious about you having that 'oh so pampered feeling'? :D

jaguarstyper Posted November 14, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2012 No charge for specialty restuarants and offer an all inclusive beverage package at a sensible price. Increase their wine selection and lower their ludicrous prices for wine. Allow the hot tubs or hydropool to be open later in the evening. I love to soak in the hot tub right before bed. RuthC Posted November 14, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2012 Put an end to the three times a day announcements when the daily program is reviewed aloud. I can read. Bring the service levels back to where they used to be so that I don't feel I am imposing when I ask for something. Set the teak loungers up early every day, and put some decent cushions on them. Let there be some comfortable areas with peace and quiet. I do not want someone else's selection of background music to interfere with my relaxation. jhannah Posted November 14, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2012 I would have to also appeal for a return to service levels of a decade and more ago ... gracious and unrushed.
Randyk47 Posted November 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2012 I would have to also appeal for a return to service levels of a decade and more ago ... gracious and unrushed. Absolutely! A lot of details in exactly what those levels were but this statement is good enough for me.
michmike Posted November 14, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2012 Count me among those who would love a return to staffing (and therefore service) levels of 10 years ago.... and while they're at it, blow up the darn pirate ship at HMC and spare us any amplified music at the beach. Let us enjoy the wind and the waves. (steel drum type band at the bar as you first come onto the island would be fine).

Count me in on the hot tubs being open later! I'm another one likes to sit in the hot tub before bed, and the early closing of these pools is the one downside of sailing on Holland America. Gerd Posted November 14, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 14, 2012 . - that HAL add more service stuff all around there vessels (as before) - I hope that HAL can collect somewhere enough money to bring back those dedicated marvelous Filipino Crows Nest Band => and that they restart to play each evening. But I doubt it will, because the two latest vessels do even no more have a stage !?!
vicocala Posted November 14, 2012 #10 Share Posted November 14, 2012 Stop nickle and diming you everywhere you go. Only use the intercom in an emergency. Stop charging for water, immediately! Provide excellent service with top quality meats, fruits and vegetables in all dining locations. Return to all meals are included in the fare, regardless where on the ship you eat or drink. In other words, let me relax and enjoy my cruise without feeling I have to be wary of any employee who approaches me. Eliminate the "shady deals" between the cruise lines and tour operators to allow locals to earn a decent wage in the ports we go to.
tangerinebunny Posted November 14, 2012 #11 Share Posted November 14, 2012 If the MDR food could just taste as good as the menu promises? And I do love good coffee. One of my travel companions had a 'medical incident' on our last HAL cruise; the doctor's office notified our steward, who then checked on him for a few days. Now that's pampering when it counts. ansjefitnes Posted November 14, 2012 #12 Share Posted November 14, 2012 Well i guess we were lucky on our last cruise. Fabulous service, food and no nickle and diming. Waiters who had time for a chat (saw no rushing in diningroom at all) Hope our next one will be as great.

Rare kazu Posted November 14, 2012 #14 Share Posted November 14, 2012 Remember when you were greeted when you boarded - a steward took your carry on - someone gave you a glass of wine and you were escorted to your stateroom?? I know, that was a long time ago - but I never forgot it. Really made you feel special and welcome when you got on board:D
PathfinderEss Posted November 14, 2012 #15 Share Posted November 14, 2012 I have no complaints, just glad to be on a dam ship cruising somewhere. I try to make all my cruises '6' star events and I don't believe it comes with a free price tag. I don't plot how to get up grades as I book the cabin I want. I guess if I wanted everything to not cost on a cruise ship, I would switch lines to some of the high price cruise lines where everything is inclusive but you pay a high price for your cruise. Do I wish it was like 10 years ago of course but that is not going to happen without a price. I believe a price that none of us are willing to pay. Just enjoy what we have now and work around the changes which are invariable.
cmdchiefthom Posted November 14, 2012 #16 Share Posted November 14, 2012 Turn back the hands of time to smaller ships, a less crowded ocean, a lower bottom line, and dutch hats:)

Rare kazu Posted November 14, 2012 #18 Share Posted November 14, 2012 That would be a nice touch!! That was back in the day of the smaller ships of course - I can see it would be harder to do on the larger ones:eek:

I know, that was a long time ago - but I never forgot it. Really made you feel special and welcome when you got on board:D Today: If someone grabbed your carryon you would think they were trying to steal it, hand you a glass of wine, you would think they were trying to charge you for it, escort you to your cabin, you would think someone is trying to lure you. Sigh, the good ole days weren't always as good as we would like to remember, but there was a civility that deception has destroyed.
