What would you want HAL to do to really pamper you if they

were serious about you having that 'oh so pampered feeling'? :D

Put an end to the three times a day announcements when the daily program is reviewed aloud. I can read.

Bring the service levels back to where they used to be so that I don't feel I am imposing when I ask for something.

Set the teak loungers up early every day, and put some decent cushions on them.

Let there be some comfortable areas with peace and quiet. I do not want someone else's selection of background music to interfere with my relaxation.

Absolutely! A lot of details in exactly what those levels were but this statement is good enough for me.

Count me among those who would love a return to staffing (and therefore service) levels of 10 years ago.... and while they're at it, blow up the darn pirate ship at HMC and spare us any amplified music at the beach. Let us enjoy the wind and the waves. (steel drum type band at the bar as you first come onto the island would be fine).

Count me in on the hot tubs being open later! I'm another one likes to sit in the hot tub before bed, and the early closing of these pools is the one downside of sailing on Holland America.

Stop nickle and diming you everywhere you go. Only use the intercom in an emergency. Stop charging for water, immediately!

 

Provide excellent service with top quality meats, fruits and vegetables in all dining locations. Return to all meals are included in the fare, regardless where on the ship you eat or drink.

 

In other words, let me relax and enjoy my cruise without feeling I have to be wary of any employee who approaches me.

 

Eliminate the "shady deals" between the cruise lines and tour operators to allow locals to earn a decent wage in the ports we go to.

One of my travel companions had a 'medical incident' on our last HAL cruise; the doctor's office notified our steward, who then checked on him for a few days. Now that's pampering when it counts.

Well i guess we were lucky on our last cruise. Fabulous service, food and no nickle and diming.

 

Waiters who had time for a chat (saw no rushing in diningroom at all)

Remember when you were greeted when you boarded - a steward took your carry on - someone gave you a glass of wine and you were escorted to your stateroom?? I know, that was a long time ago - but I never forgot it. Really made you feel special and welcome when you got on board:D

I have no complaints, just glad to be on a dam ship cruising somewhere. I try to make all my cruises '6' star events and I don't believe it comes with a free price tag. I don't plot how to get up grades as I book the cabin I want. I guess if I wanted everything to not cost on a cruise ship, I would switch lines to some of the high price cruise lines where everything is inclusive but you pay a high price for your cruise.

 

Do I wish it was like 10 years ago of course but that is not going to happen without a price. I believe a price that none of us are willing to pay. Just enjoy what we have now and work around the changes which are invariable.

Today: If someone grabbed your carryon you would think they were trying to steal it, hand you a glass of wine, you would think they were trying to charge you for it, escort you to your cabin, you would think someone is trying to lure you.

HAL pampers those right now whom they want to.

We have too many incidents in the last year where some people practically have the red carpet rolled out for them.

Years ago there was no charge for the Odyssey or Marco Polo restaurants.

Have no charge iced teas and punch or lemonade passed out on sea days near pools (couldn't hardly find anything in the lido) no iced tea etc.

 

No charge in MDR for suite guests for coffee
