Can we switch people in staterooms on board?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I always heard that this was possible so I just want to get info. We booked three people to a cabin, one boys and one girls. Now we'd like to switch when we get on board. Will they easily allow us to switch so that our room keys work or will they give us extra keys if not?

It depends on the age of the children and the location of the cabins.

Children under the age of 18 are required to either have an adult in the cabin or be directly next to or across from the parents' cabin.

The short answer is "Yes and yes..." Extra keys and / or room assignments can be done at the purser's desk. Not knowing all your details, ages and cabin location may be an issue. The key swap is always one of our first stops when we have our boys with us. I probably over-think it, but billing accounts and muster drill assignments can also be an issue

If everyone is adults...yes.

If there are minor children involved...it depends. If there will be someone 21+ in each cabin then yes. If the cabins are right next to/across from each other then yes. If one of these does not apply you might be able to, but policy says no.

Thanks everyone! We're 5 adults and a 2 year old. My parents got the cruise for everyone and each took a cabin. But when we get there we would like to switch. I think they got senior discounts on their cabins so that's probably why the structured it that way. So if we just go to the pursers desk when we get onboard we should be ok as long as the 2 year old doesn't get his own cabin? :p

For booking only, sleeping arrangements and cabin keys are no problem...just tell them at the service desk and they will do exactly what you tell them to do. We had no problem and I even asked if they care where everyone was going to actually be and she told me no in no uncertain terms. I was trying to make it too complicated by having extra keys made and I was told "no, just let us know where you want everyone and we will correct it." This was THanksgiving on Freedom.
