“Live” from the "Jewel of the Seas": April 13-April 18,2013

Looking at the prices on the cocktail list it doesnt seem like you have to drink 7 or 8 drinks to break even. Say you get an $8 drink pluse 15% gives you $9.20. 7 drinks would be about $65. 6 drinks you woud be even.

My math may be off:D

No, you are right. Most people forget about that 15% added to each drink. It really depends on your drink of choice though. I am certainly going to give it a try here in a month. I just hope they provide a list at the end so I can see how many drinks I had at the end of the cruise.

MrFunInTheSun: Did they provide you with an itemized bill with all the $0.00 drinks listed on it?

Yup. I've signed tons of zero receipt. A few I've added on a tip, some given cash. The 15% that's part of package is put into a pool and shared. That one bartender one get a separate tip from RC because they severed over another person. At least that's how I under stood it when one was telling me. I asked her of course, she wasn't just telling me this.

Thanks for the ship pictures! I'm extremely excited to get on there in September.

I was thinking about the drink package for my sailing as well, but it's just under $400; seeing as how I can bring two bottles of wine with me, I definitely won't be purchasing it. Since it's a port intensive sailing and I will hardly be on the ship, I can only see myself getting about 2-3 drinks a day on top of my glass of wine before dinner.

How was the outdoor Windjammer seating area during your sailing? I plan to spend each sailaway there.

Time to fill out your comment card. Comment card is important for crew member. Been advised by many how important it is for them. More important to mention a crew member there than give a WOW.

Every time I went out there, had plenty of seating. This Windjammer is so beautiful. I need to try and get pictures of it with my real camera to post when I get home.

The outdoor windjammer seating was a little too windy for us. Only ate out there first day.

Please advise which bars are non-smoking. I'm hoping the Schooner and the Champagne. I will be on Jewel in less than 3 weeks and am so looking forward to seeing her again. Haven't been on Jewel in a few years. Also, is the Champagne bar serving appetizers between 5-7 PM? Any drink specials there?

All bars appear to be non smoking with the exception of the Cigar Bar and the sports bar by the casino. Parts of the casino are smoke free.

You pay for the 5 days so your first night counts. The drink package is fun and knowing at the end what your cost is. With that said I most likely will not purchase the premium drink package again. On paper 7-8 drinks looks easy and if discipline yourself to stick with what you normally drink it would be ok. But some days drinking those 7-8 drinks to make the package pay for itself is a bit much. Some days it's just to much. Just my opinion. :-)

Well said. It's not worth the hangover to try and make it worth what you paid

Great job on the review, it was awesome following along with you. I can't wait for our cruise on her next month.

Thanks Grady. I'm actually thinking of seeing if I can get the dates to work and do that cruise too and forfeit my cruise in September on the Enchantment, we shall see once I'm back to reality and work tomorrow. Yeah going to work not long after I get off the ship in the am.

Because of one of your old reviews I can't wait to board the Freedom of the Seas in November. Will of course be doing a "Live" trip report.

I'll be posting a bunch of additional pictures once I'm home too, from the Jewel.

You did very well with another live review. It's a shame the cruise ends tomorrow. Appreciate you taking us along on your journey :)

Ouch. Never fun having to go back to work upon getting home from a cruise. Hope the re-positioning works out for you, I think it will be a lot of fun. We've got a pretty good roll call going, stop in if you do book it.

Great review. Thanks so much for taking the time from your vacation to "entertain" us here on CC. Greatly appreciated. Love the ocean view pictures. After all, isn't that why we cruise to begin with........;) Looking forward to your after cruise pictures when you post them.

Thanks again,

Gwen :)

Oh so back to reality that all us cruisers must face from that ever so early wake up, and dreaded walk and hearing that link Ping getting off the ship. New friends, family and new acquaintances we've all made during our voyage concludes. But the good news is there is always that "Next" cruise for us avid cruisers to look forward to!

I was back and to my home by 9:15 or so, had to care for some things around the house, unpack a few things. A brief nap is in order and then off to work for a few hours, need to conserve those vacation days to allow for more cruises later, right?:D

Later this evening I plan to be posting the many pictures from around the ship I took with my "Real" camera. I've got so many and the ship offers so many wonderful details it may take a few days.

Hope you all had a great cruise! :)

Thank you so much for your review !! Heading off on her for a five nite on the 27th ..even though i have sailed her three times for a total of 37 nites-- i still love seeing pictures from someone else's view. Also like the compass so i can see what nites my favorite activities ( deck party , 70s nite ) are.
