norcalal Posted April 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I sail for the sights and sounds of the sea. I did not experience this last week.
Yorkvillain Posted April 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2013 Sorry you didn't enjoy it. There is nothing I love more than the Oasis/Allure.
KirkNC Posted April 21, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2013 Ok, short and sweet but what caused you to not get the sights or sounds of the sea?
Ocean Boy Posted April 21, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I guess you never went to the pool deck, solarium, sports deck, aft deck 5, or Aqua Theater?
hairymelon Posted April 21, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I sailed Allure last November and have to say I felt more 'roll' on the Allure than I have on a previous ship - my daughter actually got sea sick and there wasn't a hurricane going on so I think I got to experience the sight and sounds of the sea even from deck 9 mid-ships! Sorry you were disappointed - I would do anything to go back on Allure again!
NorthernVAPirate Posted April 21, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I sail for the sights and sounds of the sea. I did not experience this last week. I totally agree. One reason I'm really looking forward to my cruise on the Vision this August.
norcalal Posted April 21, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I guess you never went to the pool deck, solarium, sports deck, aft deck 5, or Aqua Theater? I did all of that and our balcony overlooked the Aqua Theater.
norcalal Posted April 21, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted April 21, 2013 Ok, short and sweet but what caused you to not get the sights or sounds of the sea? The carnival atmosphere.
Ocean Boy Posted April 21, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I did all of that and our balcony overlooked the Aqua Theater. Then I am sorry you did not have a good week. After I first sailed Oasis one of the comments that I made was that the ship would not suit everybody. But I sure loved it.
norcalal Posted April 21, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted April 21, 2013 Sorry you didn't enjoy it. There is nothing I love more than the Oasis/Allure. ...and thats why they make Chevy's and Fords...
reallyitsmema Posted April 21, 2013 #11 Share Posted April 21, 2013 The carnival atmosphere. Too bad. Sounds like an oceanview balcony might have been a better choice.
reney313 Posted April 21, 2013 #12 Share Posted April 21, 2013 Too bad. Sounds like an oceanview balcony might have been a better choice. I also love the sounds of the ocean and previously have mostly sailed insides. I was always very happy on the outside promenade and spent many hours there. For my upcoming allure cruise (my first!), I booked an oceanview balcony to ensure I would not be disappointed with that aspect. Now I can ensure to get the best of both worlds (the Ocean feel AND all the amazing entertainment and fun that only these ships can accommodate!). didicruiser Posted April 21, 2013 #16 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I sail for the sights and sounds of the sea. I did not experience this last week. I also felt a disconnect to the sea........but I do love the ship!
norcalal Posted April 21, 2013 Author #17 Share Posted April 21, 2013  My daughter decided whether it would be a sea side balcony vrs a Boardwalk.
Ocean Boy Posted April 21, 2013 #18 Share Posted April 21, 2013 The carnival atmosphere. I guess that is why they call the Boardwalk.... Boardwalk. You could have booked Central Park which is about as far from a carnival as you can get.

publicpersona Posted April 21, 2013 #20 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I agree. With this class of ship, Royal has finally succeeded in making you feel like you are not at sea at all. And for me, that's a huge failure. We will never do Oasis class again.
reallyitsmema Posted April 21, 2013 #21 Share Posted April 21, 2013 My daughter decided whether it would be a sea side balcony vrs a Boardwalk. Well, unless my child was paying for the cabin, they would not be choosing where it was located. Son or daughter would make no difference whatsoever. Tyler80 Posted April 21, 2013 #24 Share Posted April 21, 2013 I saw and heard plenty of ocean on my Oasis cruise, i.e. Aqua Theater (public/private decks on 11, 12, 14), Solarium, dining room window. Could not have been more happy with that class of ship.
hazeleyez3 Posted April 21, 2013 #25 Share Posted April 21, 2013 Sure it has some places where you can see the ocean, but nothing like other classes. At this time, Royal cruises can still sail on another ship; however, the trend Royal is taking, some of their "loyal cruisers" will go to other lines.
