Omg--free cruise for me

Recommended Posts

I don't think I'm special enough cause I never have special offers.....oh well

You and me both!

And though Carnival may not think I'm special, I think I'm special and deserving of those wonderful offers. :D

But If memory serves me correctly, someone posted about this some months ago and I believe it was stated that those offers were offered to those who really played in the casino. And yes, I know they have casino offers too, but I want to say that's how those special offers were sent.

So are you a heavy slot player? I just took them up on an offer of a fare discount and a casino credit, which I was shocked they paid in cash and did not load it on my card......I guess what I am asking is exactly how much do you have to gamble to get a free room.

I get free rooms on NCL and free drinks.....they actually approached me several time to buy me a drink during the 4 night cruise.....

I usually spend about $100 /day on the slots if that much (excluding the first night). I have been lucky enough to either break even or come out a winner, So I would not say I was a BIG spender in the casino. Yet I managed a FREE GRAND SUITE.

My PVP told me those FREE CASINO CRUISES are pretty random with no rhyme or reasoning to how much you spend.

I wouldnt say a heavy gambler--I usually budget about $150 per day for cruises for the slots--I dont play table games. I usually play a few hours a night on that--going up and down. I have seen people who say they spend several thousand dollars and get nothing in return.

I dont know why I got the offer, but I surely am going to enjoy it:):) My last cruise in Jan on the Breeze, they gave me some free strawberries and $75 in casino cash.

I got the call today. She offered us a choice of 10 or 12 cruises all leaving within 2 weeks. Hubby doesn't want to go. WHAT???? Some were 4-5 day and some were 7-8 day. I am soooo bummed. This opportunity will probably never come again.

It was his offer not mine. So I can't go and take a friend. He has to go too.

I have a feeling there are a lot of calls being made.

So, I was checking my Carnival.com account under VIFP offers and a play and stay offer was there--free cabin on select cruise--BUT all the cruises were past and the offer said you had to call by April 19th. So, i called my PVP to ask what was up.

He was out, I left him a message--one of his associates called me back to say that was an error, but she had some current cruises available--Low and behold, she got me on the Splendor -in a balcony on June 18 --8 day cruise--for FREE. I just had to pay the taxes of $112 per person.:D

I am soooooo excited. Booking airfare today and sailing in 20 days!!:D

I experienced the exact same thing. My PVP called me before I could check on the new "expired" offer showing on the website. I was offered several different ships for either Europe, Alaska, Caribbean, or Bahamas. All the sail dates are last minute though, within the next two weeks. PVP says it is a casino offer that also takes into account the number of times you have cruised with Carnival.

Congrats on your cruise!

I have never gotten these offers and have dropped lots of cash at the blackjack table playing 25 or more minimums.... guess they forgot me??

You're not the only one. Also, never have gotten an upsell call, much less an upgrade call. Our cruise Saturday is our 17th on CCL, so I don't think it has to do with the number of cruises. Did get the Premier Cruise offer once for $300 cash and reduced fare, but had a cruise booked already and couldn't go on any of the 6 ships/dates.:(

Well, it's definitely not based on level of play!

I play that much (or more) per hand and just yesterday took advantage of one of several sailings offered this year. It included a free balcony cabin, $1,000 is casino cash, cocktail reception, and free drinks while playing. I had to pay to upgrade to the GS, but in essence the $1,000 will cover a good chunk of that.

Without that offer, I'd have sailed that week with RCI or NCL (Celebrity if they had a ship around Florida in August:rolleyes:)! So... it worked to get me back onboard! ;)

I play tables and hubby plays slots. ALL offers we have ever gotten were for HIM not me. I actually spend more at the tables than he does at the slots.

He also get free drinks for entire cruise. This last time the pit boss bought all my drinks in the casino.

Thanks to the OP for the heads-up. I checked my VIFP profile and lo and behold, I had the Pack & Play offer for a free room on selected sailings. It would be nice if they proactively emailed you when you had an offer like this, since they seem to be able to email you about every sale, but I digress......

Anyway, the options are very limited, and it took 3 calls before I found something that actually worked for me. There are so few cabins available, so availability keeps changing.

By the time I coordinated time off work for the Miracle Alaska sailing I wanted, it was no longer available. But I did wind up getting a 5-day to the Bahamas on the Fantasy on June 14; inside guarantee was the only thing available under the offer. An inside on a 5-day Fantasy-class ship to Nassau and Freeport was by no means my first choice, but I'm not one to turn down a free (okay, well $90 in taxes/fees) cruise!

Of course, I may wind up paying the casino many times over what I could have just bought the cruise for in the first place:rolleyes:

I have this same offer. Going to call now. Thanks for posting this as I'd probably wouldn't have checked.

it is darn irritating to me. We are VIP on Carnival Drop a lot of bucks..book Carnival Tours..DH donates to the Casino generously....

Why do WE not get offers like that?

We are booked and paid for on the Breeze...Next cruise will be in May of 2014. It will NOT be on Carnival.

Talk about bad public relations.....but then Celebrity is something we have wanted to try for a long time.

It all works out I guess. We needed a kick in the butt to break the Carnival habit. AND I don't resent upgrades. That is the luck of the draw. But to give just give free cruises to some VIP passengers and not to others.............that is just plain stupid.

If free cruises go to big casino spenders...different story. That is a good business move.

We already had FIFTY Carnival cruises under our belts before, on the Legend last year, I received a letter in the casino on our last night good for a free cruise (suite if less than 5 nights, balcony if 6 or more). Thus we opted for the Breeze in March. I was not planning another Carnival cruise until that letter was given to me. Same with the cruise I booked on the Freedom two days ago... if I had not received the free cruise offer + cash, we would have been on another line that week.

For years I was banging my head against the wall wondering what in the world the Player's Club "gods" were thinking. There are some people that they should really want to return. Perhaps it's a function of not having anything booked with them that helps to generate such offers. In the past we almost always had 2-3 Carnival bookings lined up.

After our first 4 night sailing on Celebrity their "Blue Chip Club" offered us a free 10 night Thanksgiving cruise on the Constellation in a Concierge Class cabin. All it took was losing a few thousand... something that Carnival took quite for granted.

After our first 3 night NCL cruise I managed a couple thousand off our already booked sailing on the Epic when I transferred our reservation to their casino department (CAS).

Let's just say the other lines were ahead of the curve.. heck, they weren't even on the same road as Carnival!

It was bad enough that Carnival's casino department was not really playing the comp game, but not offering true perks for suite guests and having an underwhelming past guest program (even after the "big" rework last year) really helped to solidify my desire to cruise other lines.

I shed no tears for Carnival though... there are plenty of new fish in the ocean from which they can fill their ships. And, what the heck, I'll still keep our CCL stock for the long haul. THAT REMINDS ME, I need to arrange a bit of OBC for the Freedom! :D

Where do these offers appear? How do you find them?

yes Lucky ones. Tell how you found out?

Do you have to have a PVP?

AND while we were making VIP on Carnvial in the past seven years..We also clocked 12 other cruises on Carnival Owned ships on Princess and HAL.

I am ticked. But Good.

I'm pretty sure the offers are based on casino spending and not how many times you have cruised with Carnival. I've only been on two 5 day cruises with them and get the offer from the casino. My first one came in my email with a number to call. Yesterday a PVP called me again to offer. The sailings have all been 1-3 weeks out from the time of the offer, so you usually have to be able to get time off easily. In our case, DH can't really get time off in the next 2 weeks so it is not going to be used.

Intentionally, we focused on NON-Carnival owned lines! ;)

With reference to my answer of "how did you find out about the offers" reply which I gave... I had no idea that those offers were online. I receive periodic (snail) mailings from the Player's Club.

When I go online to price the sailings mentioned as eligible for "free", I see this:

"FREE" (less fees/taxes) is not a bad deal! ;)

Nothing for us at this time. Casino offers are sometimes available for my SO so I have to check using his VIFP#.

Last year we were able to price match (Early Saver) our 2013 cruise to a casino rate. Hoping for the same thing again as it gets closer. The last casino rates I saw were for cruises through November 2013. Our B2B is for January 2014.

Tom,

I think you nailed it; no current bookings = $$ offers. For the first time in the past decade I went three weeks with no cruises booked and the offers were pouring in each day. In the past we've received casino ca$h to pickup at the cage, room decorations, bottles of bubbly, fruit baskets etc, but never a free or reduced rate cruise offer. I assume I eliminate our odds of getting one by booking again, but I don't have Karen booked yet so I'll check her Carnival.com account....:D
