Casino cruise offer. A couple questions

Can it be used at the casino bar, or must you be sitting and playing at either a machine or table?

On both RCI and Celebrity, when I've sailed under casino promos, they allow it to be used at the casino bar as well. Which is quite handy when you're heading to a show! I can't recall on NCL - but will see again in September!

I think it depends on the staff. Last cruise on Fascination, was told use in casino only, however on Dream 2 years ago could use at casino and casino bar.

Just received a call from Carnival...I had sent an email to Michael asking about the packet we were to receive prior to cruise. We are on Premier Cruise on August 11th on PRIDE out of Baltimore. They said packets had been mailed but not to worry if not received as something would also be in stateroom upon arrival. They confirmed that we are indeed entitled to all perks previously listed by others. Can't wait to board. 11 days and counting....:)

On the Freedom, the only way you could get a drink was from a waiter/waitress. You didn't have to be playing but you couldn't just walk up to the casino bar and get a drink. The only bad thing was if you ordered a drink, you pretty much had to stay at that machine so the server could find you again. They take several orders before they bring yours back to you.

Thanks.

I can recall a few times when "free" drinks (on regular sailings) were ordered while playing blackjack - then I went on a losing streak, blowing through a few hundred dollars (what I had left at the table). Then it's a matter of sitting there, not playing, and waiting for the drink to arrive. When you're the only one at the table, a common thing at the $25 table, that wait seems to last an eternity !

BTW - I noticed in your signature that you sailed on the Adventure of the Seas in 2008, and that you noted "never again". Does that refer to that ship or RCI in general?

The reason I ask is because we tried our first RCI cruise in 2007 on the Sovereign - and following that I pretty much swore off of RCI (and definitely the Sovereign)! It was that much of a contrast to what we were used to on Carnival. Well, it took 6 years but we finally gave RCI a try again this year - took a three night weekend sailing on the Allure over Valentines (thanks to Chik-fil-A chartering four nights prior), then the Oasis in May, and the Enchantment a few weeks ago. I'm pleased that we gave them a second chance as those were much improved experiences.

Since that foray out to sample another line in 2007 we have given other lines a try and have been very pleased. We have not decided to leave Carnival behind, but it's no longer our first choice. I'm sure we'll have a great time starting next weekend - and even have another on the radar for 2015! :)

That's good to hear, I still haven't gotten a reply to the email I sent to Michael.

We are also "testing the waters" now. Besides our upcoming NCLbreakaway cruise, yesterday we booked RCCL's FOS for Christmas. Then back to Carnival for a Feb. cruise!

BTW- after receiving the premier cruise offer and sailing on them, we never received any packet in the mail. There was a folder waiting in our cabin with some gifts when we boarded each time. Make sure you go to the reception the Players Club throws- it is very nice, as were the lanyards you get (says "casino VIP").

How often do they offer these? I also have the offer for the six sailings through November of this year but will be out of the US until March. Hoping to see more of these early next year!

Just got another offer in the mail today, for a choice of 6 sailings in October and November, not sure right now if I could do one, after my upcoming b2b I only need 1 more cruise to hit platinum before year end.

I'm like you, after my Dream cruise in Sept. with the Premier Casino, I'll only need one more before the end of the year to become Platinum, but won't be able to swing another 7 day (in a way I hope I don't get this latest offer - too tempting), so I'm planning to do a 4 or 5 day in November to hit Platinum.

Also, like you haven't received anything to confirm the Casino perks, so I'm going to be calling Michael this afternoon - I just don't want 3 of us to show up assuming everything is good to go and find out we somehow slipped through the cracks.

It is great to be able to grab the suitcases, jump in the car and be at a port in less than one hour (Tampa and Port Canaveral). We are spoiled!!

Wow how much do you have to spend to qualify for these casino deals. I spend more than I should but thinking must not be enough.

It varies (there is not necessarily a rhyme nor reason to the offers). Sometimes people come on the radar after a donation of several hundred.. other times it may take several thousand (or more than 10G)!

Thanks Tom I was just curious sure that I don't do enough. I have a couple of cruises I should have bypassed casino totally.lol I did win the Blackjack tourney on the Legend one cruise. I am in the blackjack 50.00 tournament on the Dream in Nov. hoping the luck will be with on that one. I am sure there are probably 500 other people also.

Good luck (it takes at least as much luck as it does skill)!!

It's a 50,000 dollar tournament. 25,000 goes to first place and then the rest split over 15 places. I love blackjack but if the cards are just bad not much you can do but hope for the best. I know the rules and that's good as long the cards are there!!!

We booked the premiere cruise for Oct 5th on the Dream, and Nov 10th on the legend, but still do not know what perks we will get other than casino cash, and a discount on the balcony rooms. Would anyone know what perks you get, such as early boarding or such? Any information is greatly appreciated, .

My casino budget is usually $300-$400 a week, I did come out ahead my last cruise and won $700, I don't spend thousands, I play about $50 a day.

Congrats on the win - perhaps that's what caught their eye. They think they have a chance at getting it back.

HIT 'EM UP AGAIN !!! :D

There truly is no rhyme or reason to who gets the offers. My hubby plays only slots and he gets the offers. I play slots and tables (mostly tables) AND I spend about 4 times what hubby does and yet he gets the offers. It really pisses me off because he doesn't always want to cruise. I could take a girlfriend if they would give me an offer. He always get the drinks on us card and I do not. Whats up with that? But the pit boss on our last cruise bought nearly all my drinks while I was at the tables. I do place a bet for the dealers nearly every hand I play. That may be the reason he buys my drinks. Taking care of his dealers can go a long way to keeping me happy too. I probably should call the OPC and ask some questions before my next cruise in Sept.
