What does your C&A level mean to you?

Bingo.. Hell I am still gold.. will jump to the next level next month at the end of our next cruise

Obviously I misread the 'balcony discount' fine print. if I eventually get to Diamond I will remember that.

You wont have to wait that long - balcony discounts begin at Platinum. Here's the stateroom discount levels per tier (courtesy of cruisenfever):

Platinum Balcony Discount When Booking More Than 6 Months From Sailing Date:

$ 50 * for sailings of 3-5 nights

$100* for sailings of 6-9 nights

$200* for sailings of 10-14 nights

$200* for sailings of 15+ nights

Emerald Balcony Discount When Booking More Than 6 Months From Sailing Date:

$ 75 * for sailings of 3-5 nights

$125* for sailings of 6-9 nights

$225* for sailings of 10-14 nights

$225* for sailings of 15+ nights

Diamond Balcony Discount When Booking More Than 6 Months From Sailing Date:

$125* for sailings of 3-5 nights

$225* for sailings of 6-9 nights

$325* for sailings of 10-14 nights

$325* for sailings of 15+ nights

Diamond Plus & Pinnacle Balcony Discount When Booking More Than 6 Months From Sailing Date:

$150* for sailings of 3-5 nights

$250* for sailings of 6-9 nights

$350* for sailings of 10-14 nights

$350* for sailings of 15+ nights

*When booking less than 6 months from sailing date subtract $25 from each dollar amount.

Enjoy your cruises.

When I started this thread, I was expecting that the vast majority of fellow cruisers, felt the same way about the C&A level they have reached, it appears that most people are happy to be a part of the loyalty/reward program.

Unlike the very few who occasionally post here, that seem to have a sense of entitlement, and give the wrong impression of the majority of RCCL repeat cruisers.

I'm not a point chaser. Most of the time, If you ask me my points, I'd have no idea what the answer is. Yeah, there are some who feel entitled and a few who get in to blood thirsty battles over points, but for me, I just appreciate what the cruise line offers as a reward for my continued business.

Since we've had time to do some cruises with lounge elgilbility, a nightly visit has become part of our cruise evenings that would be missed, just like missing dinner or the show.

The nightly get togethers with others that we have met on the cruise is just a nice addition, something that might or might not happen in one of the bar venues. For this reason we have a tough time straying to cruise lines that don't offer this benefit.

Of course we also like the other perks, especially the balcony discount.

If it is a port intensive cruise, I would and have forgone a balcony for an outside and used the difference toward private excursions. Even with discount outsides are cheaper

Not all the time. I have several times seen OV and balconies going for almost the same price, or within $50-100 of each other.

Her signature says their first cruise was in 2006, so not sure how many cruises or what level they have reached in their 7 years of cruising. It is a shame that if they have earned a balcony discount that they did not realize that it applies to suites. As you say, only they can answer that.

Considering spookwife only sails in JS or above, and it would only take three 7 day cruises in a JS to reach platinum, the first level with balcony discounts, the odds are good they've let some free money go. If I used a TA, I'd fire them for that one!

We are almost D+...I'm enjoying my little gifts balcony discounts, water, free wine each night meeting with other C&A friends.......Iet's not forget the robes we get to use. Would you believe I have a set at home ;)

If we are all using CC and cruising we are very blessed and I appreciate what RCI does for us. I do MISS the chocolates on my pillow at turn down though :(

.....and if your read her response in post #75 you will see she is C & A Gold, which means she has not yet had any balcony discount opportunities, so no money lost - so no TA needs to be fired.

I am sure that now that she is aware of the discount and its applicability to suites, she will not lose any money in the future either.

Love being Diamond Plus. Even the ice cream vendor notices when you hand them your card. Love the use of the Concierge, both him personally for little things like a ferry Bermuda schedule to the use of the room for a quick breakfast on port days.

Balcony discount, BOGO, etc. makes younfeel special. Vicki

I really appreciate the best perks that are not in writing. Here's a couple that have happened to me in the past year:

Radiance Dec 2012 - Received a letter one night in my cabin to be at the front elevators, deck 9 at 5:30pm next day... no explanation of what it's about. So I showed up... about 20 other dimaond and above members that I've seen around that week showed up and we were escorted into the captains quarters and meeting rooms for a wine and cheese, and informal meet&greet with all the head officers for about an hour pre-dinner. I had one on one time with the Captain and Staff Captain to name a few. It was awesome they took the time to do that and it was extremely memorable :)

Oasis April 2013 - At one of the Diamond and up "events", I was announced to come up and recieve a momento of the cruise for reaching a milestone of 140 points... I had no clue this was coming or that this was a milestone. I received a really nice 3-D hologram of the Oasis etched/embossed inside a block of crystal/glass (about 3"x1"x1"). Looks great on my mantle :)

Upcoming Vision 2013 - Cru con had a great deal... I included my onboard booking bonus, + used the balcony discount... I booked my first suite. Today this cruise is $300 more (for a regular balcony let alone a suite!!!) Not only that, I was able to get a coveted corner aft balcony on deck 8 with both a side and aft view.

Thank you very much RCL:D

My status means that I am superior to all those lowly Gold and Platinum members, not to mention the poor souls who have never cruised on Royal Caribbean at all (gasp!).

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm also superior to all those Diamond and Diamond Plus members, too, because I'm not arrogant, like they are.

my third cruise on Royal is 19 September.. and actually I went back and looked.. I will be one point shy at the end of it anyway.. my first cruise was a 6 nighter. Talk about a head smacking moment. ah well hindsight is 20/20.

can't very well fire myself for not realizing the significance of a 6 day cruise over a 7 day one. wasn't even sure we'd like Royal in the first place.

the sad part is, we have made the decision to do Disney in late 2014 and our Spring cruise is on Celebrity. so I have even longer to go before I can make that jump. and no there is no way we can do a 3 nighter unless GR starts offering them out of Baltimore. DH cannot take any leave for a while other than what he has already been approved for. and anything under a week is not worth flying anywhere to do.

My own fault and I gotta live with it. and like I said i SERIOUSlY Misread the fine print on balcony discounts and really did honestly think they did not start until Diamond. now I know better and someday I hope to be able to take advantage. in 2015.. heheheh

Only if you wear it all day and especially in the Windjammer. :D

Wondering where the heck that pin of mine went to.

Janet, if you don't wear your pins, you could do what one poster here suggested, several years ago: take both of your pins to your local jeweler and have a stunningly unique pair of cuff-links made for Barry. After all, I agree with you -- he looks so dashing in a tux!

Hope you guys have some great cruises coming up. It's a small small cruising world, and I just know we'll run into each other again eventually! :D

I took our old Diamond pins, took the pin part off and glued to gold tone cuff link “blanks” that I purchased on line. I also took the small round Diamond in December magnets, that are about the size of a quarter and made another pair with those. I got the idea from these boards. They look great.
