OMG my first Celebrity cruise - I might get withdrawal symptoms from RCI

Recommended Posts

You appear to have enough cruises on RC to be Diamond, so you may find that the Elite benes on X will spoil you.

You don't even need to get up to get your munchies in the evening lounge - the waiters bring them around!

Also, don't miss the E breakfast with smoothies, bloodies, and mimosas.

Sounds great :-)

MARK!!!! I see it's a wine immersion cruise! Heck if I were going to be immersed in wine you could put me on the Carnival Triumph and I'd be happy!!

But I have to say, Celebrity is my favorite line. I haven't been on the Summit since '08 but it was fantastic then; now that it's been Solsticized I bet it's even better.

Oh wait wait wait. What I meant to say:

Summit isn't that great so let's see if you can "gift" me a September wine immersion cruise. That way you don't have to go because it's only so so. YEAH that's what I meant to say. :D

Oh heck - I've tried gifting my cruise to you but it won't get over the pond in time for you to do on-line check in and get to Harwich.

What a bummer !!, I'll have to still go now.

I'll immerse myself in Rosè wine and enjoy a few Cosmopolitans for you - ha ha ha !!!!

:-)

I had a great time on my Celebrity cruise. The ship was an ideal size and you could see the sea from just about anywhere, and I WAS on a cruise :p. It was an Alaskan cruise and the welcome back hot chocolate was great!

We are taking our first Celebrity cruise in March on the Eclipse. It offers ports that would have us take a couple of different Royal cruises to see and this is for 14 nights. Our second celebrity cruise is next September on the Summit to NE/Canada, again offering ports that would have us fly to Quebec City and back if we sailed on Royal. We live in Virginia so we can take the train up to Bayonne-as we have done often for the Explorer. Jet Blue flies us non stop to FLL so it is also convenient for both ships. We are extremely loyal to Royal but Celebrity is going to be our new adventure. We are a little nervous trying something unfamiliar but we need to try something new!

We took a 14 day cruise this past March on Eclipse and we loved it so much that we have booked it again for next March. The entertainment was not as good as RCI but we loved the smoke free balcony and Casino. We were in AQ so most of our meals were in Blu which was excellent. We also got addicted to the cheeseburgers at the mast grill for lunch. It is a beautiful ship. Enjoy.

Just noticed your note about adding a cruise as December is too far off.

That's what we did - lol. Added this 12 night Celebrity one ($799 per person including tax/fees) as November on Navigator is too far off :-)

It sounds you booked an awesome cruise and don't worry you will enjoy the Infinity. It does not have the Royal Wow factor but X provides an excellent cruise experience. We have been twice on the Infinity (Antartica & Panama Canal) and loved the ship, service was excellent. The only thing we like less is the layout of the buffet on the M-class ships, prefer the lay out of the Windjammer, but love the Ice cream you can get practically the whole day....

In march we were on the Millennium Asia cruise, food, service etc excellent. And if you are a non smoker you will like the smoke free casino and balconies.

Actually we did the same as you, because our Celebrity B2B on the Equinox in november is so far away we booked the Navigator september 1! We are loyal to Royal and to X, this year we will spend 40 nights on X and 19 on Royal, but for next year so far we only have RCL booked.

We die-hard Royal fans are going on he Summit next week! I'm sure it will be a lovely cruise, but we do have some small concerns about the buffet area and entertainment.

Donna, let us know your thoughts when you return. You can't go wrong with a Bermuda cruise.

We have done the opposite! We normally sail HAL or Celebrity with the odd Cunard or Princess thrown in and we have just booked our first RCL cruise for next April. Am looking forward to experiencing RCL. I try not to compare ships, just thankful we can cruise..... I believe that the cabins (D2) are larger on IOC as are the balconies. This will be the largest ship we have been on so will be interesting for us. Pity we have to fly so far to cruise though. Enjoy your cruising people:)

As you can see from my signature we alternated between RCCL and PRINCESS, but then tried Celebrity Summit after a wonderful Celebrity small ship experience in the Galapagos. We went aqua class on Summit and I am really glad that we did because the food in Blu was the best I have ever had in a general dining room on a cruise. That being said, I do prefer RCCL because the ships are a little livelier because the median age is probably lower. Even though we are in our 50s, for a spring break time period, the Summit was really dead after 9:00. We just had 5 days on Explorer and although it rained 4 of the 5 days I loved the ship, the crew and the passengers. I think I might be ready to try Freedom class now.... Let the excitement of booking begin!
