Alberta Quilter Posted August 20, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Now everyone, please tell us your favorite item on this menu or on previous Tamarind menus ? I heard that they can make you anything you want. Without doubt or hesitation, the wasabi crusted beef tenderloin! It is one of the best pieces of beef I have ever had, and I live in beef country! My mother really enjoyed the Chicken Pho soup, and the Mango Cloud dessert. We both enjoyed the Shrimp Tempura. The Shanghai Ribs were very good but challenging to eat delicately. I did use my fingers but they were tender. At one point, I had a chunk of meat hanging from my mouth because it came off the bone when I was trying to take a small bite! I wasn't fond of the fortune cookie dessert; no chocolate ganache in the middle!! The ginger chocolate mousse was good but a little too much ginger for me.

Cannot tell you any favorites from Tamarind for me.......BUT Can and will WARN everyone to be very very VERY careful of the wedge of green on the plate that looks something like an avocado!!!! I am serious!!! I have limited vision and saw what I thought was an avocado wedge (I LOVE avocado) and ate the wedge in one bit:eek::eek: ONLY to discover to late that it was WASABI!!!!:eek: I truly thought I was going to die that night right there at the table. After that incident, I refuse to eat there ever again...... Joanie
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2013 We love the Tamarind. Sure wish that restaurant could be on the other ships -- but the older ships can not support her weight. We have never been disappointed in that restaurant. Dinner is WAY better than the lunch menu.

It was a lot better (read fresher) on Eurodam than Veendam. The sushi in the Lido is pretty boring, but I had some lovely, tuna, salmon and mackerel in Tamarind. Krazy Kruizers Posted August 20, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Sapper1 I am one of those people who can not handle Wasabi. When I order the Beef Tenderloin -- I just tell them to leave it off -- it is actually on top of the beef when served. Never had a problem with them leaving it off the beef. Tamarind will fix any entrée to your liking.
Typhoon1 Posted August 20, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Do take advantage of Tamarind. I only wish it were available on more than just the two ships.
RandyinDEN Posted August 20, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 20, 2013 The ribs are some of the best I have ever had. We got the recipe on our last NA cruise and have tried to recreate it a couple of times. Also, the Lamb is wonderful but can be hot for some people. Ask them to tone it down a bit if you are hessitant to try it. Otherwise, it is one of our favorite resturants at sea.
Tarpeian Rock Posted August 20, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 20, 2013 Be sure to try the Chicken Pho. Amazing. Nearly life-changing (well, we thought so).

Hi Yonnie! I copied the list above from my blog on the Eurodam TA two years ago. On that cruise, I typed from a copy of the menu, and left off the descriptions (to save my fingers:D). I think all those things are still there. Here is my list: Sushi and Sashimi menu - Sashimi: Tuna, salmon, snapper, octopus - Sushi: Tuna, salmon, snapper, octopus - Sushi Rolls: Rainbow, California, Salmon Tsutsumi, Tuna Tsutsumi, Yozo, Yoshi - Wraps: Indonesia vegetable, seafood, lettuce, chicken I see that the link that Crew News provided also lists those, with the descriptions. I don't know when he/she uploaded the menu, but it seems those choices are still available. (Note: I am about to embark Eurodam for this year's TA, and probably will do another blog. But, I have joined photobucket now, and may be dangerous, posting photos of the actual menus instead of retyping!) Dave Edited August 21, 2013 by RetiredMustang
