Transatlantic Crossing Weather Question

We're booked on the April 26 crossing from Miami to Rome and are curious it what type of weather we can (generally) expect.

It's weather! Who knows this far out? Last April had to divert South about 350 miles to miss a major storm. Two years ago perfect weather. Three years ago missed a port due to wind and rough seas. Much will depend on the route. Tends to be nicer with a more southerly route. As they say in the stock market: Past performance is not an indicator of future performance. Whatever the weather TAs are wonderful.

Generally speaking, the weather the first few days will be the same as Miami...at least warm enough for the pool. As you get closer to Europe and further north, the weather cools....remember that New York City and Rome are at the same latitude. No one can predict whether you will hit rain or winds.

If we came to Frisco. TX next April 26 and stayed for a few days could you tell me what the weather will be like? Ok, lets be a bit more responsive. Having done many TAs in the spring (about 10 or so) we can say that your weather might be warm (temps in the 70s), sunny days, glassy seas, etc. Or, perhaps you will have a horrible spring storm that will hit you right outside the port and will stay with you most of the way across the Atlantic. That storm will cause days of 30 foot+ seas, tons of rain, cool temps, etc. Both of these things have happened to us.

We have done two transatlantics in April and based on that small sample expect weather similar to south Florida the first few days gradually cooling as you cross. We have seen swimmers by the pool at the beginning followed by everyone in blankets near the end.

You have to pack for two climates basically.

If you can give me detailed weather predictions for Texas next year, I'll predict the likely weather for your crossing as variable.

We've loved all our crossings.. well over a dozen TAs, only one rocky one.

In our only TA in Spring FL To Rome. First day out of FL was the nicest, then we were stuck in a Low Pressure system all the way across the Atlantic. It was windy, cloudy and cool.

Once we enter the MED, the weather was better.

I know the Captain of the Ship will try everything within their power to voyage the ship in the best weather possible, given his parameters to operate the ship safely. His mission is to give the passengers the best enjoyable cruise.

Their is always spots on the Ship one can go to temper down whatever weather elements is given on a TA.

I enjoyed the Cruise and had a relaxing trip and wouldn't have traded this trip. So scope out the ship and pick your spots daily for whatever the weather comes your way.

Agreed, by the end the only people sunning by the pool are the Canadians!:D
