we booked this for our daughter she had fun but in no way was it worth 350.00. it was about a total of 5 hrs of the week she spent doing the "barbie thing" and on the big fashion show it seemed like the crew didnt really try to hard to get the kids to participate. the big fashion show at the end had only the familys of the kids who were in it and in a small venue. i think there were 6 kids

 

just my 2 cents glad she did it wont do it again

What ship were you on? I leave Sunday and am planning on booking this for my 6 turning 7 year old. It's her birthday gift, what about the other activities like story telling, movies, dance class, clothes designing, tea party, decorations etc.,?

Ugh, bummed to hear this. We booked it for a cruise back in May and it ended up being cancelled completely due to lack of participation which really upset my daughter. Have it booked to try AGAIN this October on Allure and was hoping for a good experience.

It's unfortunate that your daughter didn't enjoy the experience, although I'm not sure why you would have expected other passengers to come watch little girls parade around in a "fashion show." I somehow don't see this as being high on the list of activities for the average passenger.

thanks for the review! I found the price tag too much to swallow ... but every time I look at my reservation, I wonder if I'm being too cheap and if this is something my daughter would enjoy.

I can't imagine who else would go watch a fashion show of little girls that don't belong to them. Much like I wouldn't expect your kids to sit and watch me gamble in the casino or hang out at the pool bar. Although I'm sorry it wasn't a good experience.

Noticed, the 30% discount recently and thought about treating my four Grandchildren, still would be very expensive. Now I will look at other ways to spend my money :D What did you think of the kids club?

it was on the freedom of the seas.

room was decorated when we got there

1st meet up was the tea party it was about 30 mins long

2nd meet up was the designer dressing which was also about 30 mins long

3rd meet up was the mermaid dancing 30-45 mins long

4th meet up was the fashion show which was about 30 long

the kids absolutely loved the kids club and didnt want to leave. it was fantastic because they kept the kids while we were in port for the day and the kids didnt want to leave to go in the pool. our 5 yr old daughter loved "turbo" & "lucky" they were awesome she says. our 9 yr old son says "high 5" & "party shorts" was awesome

I don't think your review is fair there are no specific details only how long each activity was. Well how much do you believe this feature is worth?

Based on what you've said, it appears you don't think you got you moneys worth, but the real question is................ Did your daughter enjoy it?

 

I would imagine the number of participants could make or break the entire experience.

We have only seen the pirate parade on 1 cruise, our 1st and that was during dinner one night.

From reading the reviews of the Barbie Experience, I think they have priced it very high and cannot deliver on something worth that price. RC has to pay for the copyright of Barbie so that jacks up the cost.

I know DD loved Barbie at that age, but no way would I pay $350 for her to participate. OP just confirms my instincts.

Instead of paying $350 create your own Barbie Experience for your daughter. Surprise her on the ship with a new doll, clothes and accessories. Maybe see if you can find a Barbie bed tent that she can put on her bed. Look for a Barbie costume, Wal-Mart used to sell them. She could wear it on formal night. You would spend a lot less than what RC is asking.

Another idea is to have a special birthday party at home. Invite a few girls her age and do the Barbie theme with Barbie favors, and maybe each girl could bring their own doll. Again way less than $350.

$350!! YIKES!! Looks like someone from RCI needs to visit Disney World's Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to see how to entertain young girls and treat them like royalty.

The experience seems like a lot of $$ to me, but if folks are willing to pay, it is their choice. No one is forced to pay for the activity. It is not much different for those who want to pay extra for specialty dining or a costly excursion.

 

We’ve come a long way. When our children were young cruisers, 25 years ago, there was a limited kids club, and NO ice rink, zip line, flow rider, Johnny Rockets, donut shack, parade or rock wall, etc. If we wanted to climb a wall, we had to visit Dunns River Falls. The kids were happy with the pool, shows , kids’ activities and the ports and seem happy with just the dining room, a limited buffet and room service. It seemed like a lot to offer to a kid.

 

There is so much more offered on board, and then the extras, like a Barbie experience, cupcake class, etc. What next? Oh, I guess bumper cars!

 

Oh, by the way, 25 years ago there was a kids “talent show”. Kids would juggle, play a steel drum etc. Needleless to say, it was only attended by the families of the kids “in the show”, but as a parent, is was adorable!

we just booked this for our daughter as one of her Christmas gifts. we did get the 30% off. She is going to LOVE IT, like completely flip out because she loves Barbie. How can I put a price on that??? I can't wait to take her to the events =) I know it will be a great cruise memory for her, and for that reason alone, it is worth it ;)

Your post reminded me of my very first cruise on the Sovereign in 1990. DH & I watched half a dozen youngsters "climb the mountain" under the direction of the kids club staff. It took them a VERY long time to get up those stairs but they enjoyed every minute............ and so did we!

We had this for 2...age 4 and age 10. Both girls really had a great time. The 10 yr old was kind of worried but she had fun too. I think alot of the excitement is "created" by the numbers in attendance and the level of participation of the girls. I would have been upset if the activities were opened to the ship...I do not want strange people watching my little ones "strut their stuff" at the fashion show. The tea party was a blast for all the little ones (10 girls attended), the design part was a Mommy&Me kind of activity for many as they were younger, the room decor was a big hit!!! And of courser, so was the new Barbie. However, if you want to save money, just buy a Barbie and bring your own BD decorations for the room along with some feathery boas and fancy dress up tutus and let your little one walk around ship all dressed up. Don't forget a crown!!!!
