woodworker&knitter Posted November 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2013 Beautiful shot of a HAL ship all lite up in the opening scene of Hawaii Five -0, in last nights show. Now I'm really excited about my cruise on the Ryndam on the 17, plus last nights shot brought back great memories of ou cruise in March to Hawaii on the Zaandam

scopewest Posted November 9, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2013 I saw that as well. What I love about that TV show is the great location shots of Hawaii. I've seen other cruise line ships in port on other episodes.
solocanadian Posted November 9, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2013 Yes, I saw that. Glad I had PVR'd it so I could replay it to be sure. Was a beautiful scene with all the lights.
RuthC Posted November 10, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 10, 2013 I haven't watched it yet (thank Heaven for streaming). Which ship was it?
ScriptOhio Posted November 10, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2013 Go to: http://www.cbs.com/shows/hawaii_five_0/video/hv1pqU1XO_j9KUP_8YREg78hv_qb5sjw/hawaii-five-0-ua-nalohia/ See ship at 1:17 mark.

RuthC Posted November 10, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 10, 2013 Here are a couple screen shots: Thanks. It sure looks like an S-class, based on the funnel. And it's not the Veendam, based on the Lido aft. I can't read the ship name, but I'm guessing it's the Statendam, as the Ryndam and Maasdam haven't been out that way since the show returned to the air. Good eye that it was even spotted as one of "our" ships in the first place!
sail7seas Posted November 10, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) I'd say it is likely Statendam. One funnel..... so an "S" class. "R" Class have two funnels. No glass elevator so not a Vista or Signature. Not Prinsendam. Edited November 10, 2013 by sail7seas

solocanadian Posted November 10, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 10, 2013 I'm guessing Statendam since she travels to South Pacific. That show was probably taped 6 months ago.
rajkr74 Posted November 10, 2013 #13 Share Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) Also saw the opening shot with the HAL ship in the opening credits. Pretty neat shot of the ship in the dark. I played with the video by starting and stopping the video, enlarging the size of the screen on the video numerous times and I came up with a fairly clear pause shot of the port side name....it is the Statendam. Rare boards Posted November 10, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) Could it be the Zaandam? We were there in 2010 on the Zaandam. Edited November 10, 2013 by boards
kakalina Posted November 10, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 10, 2013 I tried to watch the link but after 4 commercials there was 10 seconds of show and then 4 more commercials, thanks for posting the pix BCD2010.
RuthC Posted November 10, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 10, 2013 Could it be the Zaandam? We were there in 2010 on the Zaandam. Not with that funnel, it couldn't be. That funnel belongs to an S-class ship. Besides, count the lifeboats; the Zaandam would have a couple more than the S-class ships do.

bcd2010 Posted November 10, 2013 #18 Share Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) Photos on CC end up small, so I put them on a web page after "lightening" them up so they're more visible - you'll probably have to scroll because I left them at full size for (hopefully) easier identification - I notice the second one is blurry -that was their camera movement: http://bcdenterprises.net/Hawaii50/ Solocanadian (and others) - I would love to teach some of the things I know, practical stuff. RuthC Posted November 10, 2013 #22 Share Posted November 10, 2013 I'm not as good at the funnels as the rest of you - counting the lifeboats is my favourite trick to help identify a ship:D The large pic that bcd2010 posted clearly shows that the aft pool is on Navigation Deck, not Lido. That limits it to three possible ships.
