workathome Posted November 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2013 I know you can bring two bottles of wine per stateroom; however, what if you don't finish it, can you bring it back off the ship? For example what if you get sea sick after opening the bottle, is it just wasted then?
BDL Posted November 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2013 We've had the wine and dine package in the past along with carrying 2 on board. Once when we had some leftover there was no problems carrying unused wine off the ship.
gerif Posted November 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2013 Can't imagine a problem. After all, you can take all the bottles of booze you purchase on the ship or in ports that they return to you the last night so why not?

We were staying in a GS and my DW is the wine drinker and between the free wine in CL and a couple of bottles our TA sent us we had a bottle left over. We just packed in our carry off, never declared it because we hadn't purchased it either on the ship or one of the islands.

pspercy Posted November 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2013 If you're flying home it'd have to go in checked baggage, whether opened or still sealed as it's more than the few oz allowed in hand baggage.
cb at sea Posted November 11, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Unless you think you'll be seasick for the entire trip, you'll easily be able to finish 2 bottles of wine! Actually, being tipsy helps with any motion problems you might be feeling! It's true that if it's opened, it will be difficult to reseal...it will probably leak. Rare Keith1010 Posted November 11, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2013 I would not bring an opened bottle of wine of the ship because of spillage and it might go bad. If it is not opened you can bring it off. Keith

xxoocruiser Posted November 11, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) Something that no one has mentioned is that though you can easily walk off the ship with an open bottle of wine there is the matter of "Open Container Laws" that exist in the USA. No person shall have in his or her possession, while driving a motor vehicle upon a highway, any bottle, can, or other receptacle containing any alcoholic beverage that has been opened, or a seal broken, or the contents of which have been partially removed. MS52 Posted November 11, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) An open bottle is an empty bottle. Leftover wine, never heard of it! :p But in answer to the OP, yes you can bring it off the ship. We once had leftover from our wine package since I had noro (yuch) and had no problems taking the remaining bottles home. I would guess you would be subject to duty free limits though. Open container laws vary from state to state. In Florida, and some other states, you can take home open bottles of wine from restaurants as long as they are packaged a certain way. Travel R Posted November 11, 2013 #14 Share Posted November 11, 2013 If unopened, you can give it to your room steward as an extra/additional "tip" when you leave.
Sugar*Magnolia Posted November 11, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 11, 2013 We had 2 bottles left over and just left them in the cabin. Then again, they werent pricey wines, we're more vodka drinkers.
