Thanks for this post. my sister in law and her sister are on this cruise. We were on The Ruby in late September for a two week Med

Cruise. Loved the Caribe balcony we had. That cruise was very port intensive so not much down time on the ship. This sounds like a great getaway!

Hi Dave, we're doing a 4 day Ruby in 2 weeks, thanx for the info and updates.

If you happen to notice in any of the Patters a listing under "Friends at sea" - "Service Club Meeting" , could you mention it on this thread . it is usually on a sea day late morning or early afternoon in one of the lounges.

thanx, Mike in CT

We are doing our first Princess cruise in Feb on the 5 day Eastern Caribbean on the Ruby. Any ballroom dancing on these short cruises?

Minnie

There has been a lot of dancing to the bands around the various venues but up to now, nothing specific to Ballroom Dancing. Tonight from 5 to 8 in Club Fusion they are having something called Ballroom Blitz Dance Music, so that might be what you're looking for. I've never heard of this but we'll probably wander by and check it out.

Greetings from Cozumel and since there were some questions about activities on port days and this is our only port day, here’s the rundown. Quite a few people stayed on the ship and Internet was actually down for a while this morning. Anyway, here are some activities for the day while in port:

Bible Study

Various concerts and movies on MUTS

Movie in Explorers Lounge

Various sessions of trivia and games

Scheduled fitness classes

Afternoon Tea

Spa Specials

Sports@ Sea stuff like Volleyball in the pool, etc.

There was a question about the Friends@Sea social events. Yes, they are having Service Club events…. Along with the following.

Daily LGBT get togethers

Daily Friends of Dr Bob and Bill

Daily Single & Solos Get togethers

Friends@Sea Club 18-20

The answer to the question about booking the Sanctuary for the full week appears to be get on ship early if you want to book the prime loungers in front in the shade. Most of those were booked for the week. There were very few in shade available for daily rentals and the ones outside in the sun were all available. There is no discount for the full week on these 4 day cruises. So if you book the week it is $80. Again, half day rates are $10 and full day rates are $20. There were definitely loungers available but all but 3 or 4 were outside in full sun above the Lotus Pool.

Speaking of the Lotus Pool, it appears to be out of commission and looked pretty nasty so I’m not sure how long it’s been closed. I didn’t ask but it appeared they were working on something. I’ll check back in on that later but for now, that pool is not an option.

We’re heading to the pool to relax in the peace and quiet. I’ll get some more updates later and provide some dining details as well. Dave

We had booked prior to the "free" cruise sale but yes I think it is. I'm really curious to see some differences as well; we've never been on a cruise shorter than 7 days and have never cruised during this "mid" Holiday season. They really had a hard time filling the ship. Interior rates were as low as $129. Dave

I booked prior to the free cruise also and received an email stating that I and all cruisers on the January 27th cruise on the Ruby would be eligable for the free cruise credits as long as you booked before December 30th. I called to just confirm and was told yes I was eligable.

I would check, you may have a credit waiting for you

Enjoy your cruise

Is the "free cruise" for all in December? Does the 12/22 sailing count ??

No, just the 12/14 and the various embarkations in January. The holiday cruises are too popular to qualify, alas, or I'd go on the New Years one.

What are the ones in Jan? And Is there a code to put in when booking?

Thanks

So we’re on our way back from Cozumel and now the ship is rocking somewhat. It was a rainy and windy day today. Not a total washout but not sunny by any means. There were a lot of things going on around the ship tonight with many colliding with crowds in the piazza so it was the first time I really felt “crowded” on the ship. I’m not sure how many are sailing but it certainly doesn’t seem to be full. A word of warning for the folks doing the Christmas cruise. They are already saying there will be 700+ kids on that cruise.

Tomorrow will be a day filled with things that many folks love as they will be doing Pub Lunch and they are holding the famous dining room outlet sale of old stuff. Love it or hate it, it’s usually fun to browse. Some of the other stuff that was the same over this cruise include both wine tastings, tons of art auction stuff and the usual casino promotions. Come to think of it, I wandered through the casino tonight and it was packed.

To the person who asked about ballroom dancing, tonight from 5 to 8 and tomorrow night for at least 2 hours, they are having what they call Ballroom Blitz. It appears to be recorded music for dancing. We caught it at the tail end of tonight’s session.

Now for something completely different. We got our disembarkation papers tonight and it appears that other than 3 or 4 groups with transfers or 2 groups of people with independent travel, everyone else is lumped into 28 walkoff groups. Really? We kind of laughed. I mean, yes there are probably more people on this cruise that would like walkoff, but I thought you had to ask for it. In any case they said there will be a desk for people with questions tomorrow from 9 to Noon. I can’t wait to see how long that line is. I’ll report back on that one tomorrow.

Thank you very much for the Sanctuary information Dave! I'm sad about the Lotus pool though, that was one of my favorite things on a Princess ship. Have a great night!

I'm going to try to get more details on the Lotus pool tomorrow. The water was green and it looked like it has been out of commission for a while. It was covered with the usual nets, etc.
