Firefighterhoop Posted December 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Just off the Grandeur this morning, and when we boarded on the 6th, went up to the Windjamer as usual and there was None of the beloved Honey Fried Chicken. I asked the Sous Chef in the windjammer and he said it was a corporate decision and it is fleet wide!:eek: I guess it took effect 12/1. Anyone cruised since 12/1 (Embarkation day Dec 1 or after) and seen it??
DEIx15x8 Posted December 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Not sure I've ever had it, or at least if I did it never stood out to me. By the way people talk about it on these boards you would think it's the greatest food on earth so it's a bit surprising that they would remove it fleet wide. Making it a daily dish fleet wide would be seem more likely, but it wouldn't be the first questionable decision they've made.
Indiana52 Posted December 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2013 If you look on the thread "Live" from the Brilliance of the Seas , December 12 - 16... Scroll down the page on page 4 , you will see that it is indeed alive and well on some Royal Caribbean ships, so sorry for your loss
Ken at the beach Posted December 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 15, 2013 My guess would be a chef blaming something on corporate instead of admitting that they messed up and didn't make / order it.

Ladysilver Posted December 15, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 15, 2013 I don't understand why so many people love the Honey Stung Chicken. After reading about it several times on the RC threads, I was really excited about trying it. I finally did try it last week on our Navigator cruise. It was horrible. Reminded me of hospital or school food. A flat, breaded, pattie of processed meat. As I was eating some of it, all I could think about was "Are you kidding me?" Gross.........:p:p:p
seadays4me Posted December 15, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Its been replaced with chicken tenders.
luvscruising2007 Posted December 15, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 15, 2013 I have had it when it was very warm and moist and when it was cool and dry. I don't usually get it any more. Is it still on the Room Service menu?

travelplus Posted December 15, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Oh No you have to be kidding me. This was the reason I ate in the Windjammer on boarding day to get that Honey Stung Chicken. How dare them to take this away. Hope they listen to us and bring it back.
edjny Posted December 15, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 15, 2013 They did away with the donuts a couple months back and now the Honey Stung Chicken.... What are they thinking? This is penny-pinching taken to the extreme. It would seem to me that when some dish is popular, they would keep it.
Paulette3028 Posted December 15, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 15, 2013 As long as they don't stop making the paella, on embarkation day. I love it in the WJ that first lunch on board. I never see it on any other day of a cruise.

JMPkeno Posted December 15, 2013 #18 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Boarded the Enchantment on Dec 9th and they did have the honey stung chicken in the windjammer that day.
Firefighterhoop Posted December 15, 2013 Author #19 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Good to see that it is alive and well on some ships! Sorry to those that don't like it, but it is mine and a lot of other's favorites. It should be noted that the Windjammer on the GR did NOT have the replacement chicken tenders on boarding day either. hellsop Posted December 15, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) It's not hard to make at home. It's basically fried chicken with a pre-cook marinade of honey and vinegar. http://is.gd/IMLe0a Edited December 15, 2013 by hellsop

My wife will tell you that I am pretty picky, though, as I find most of the choices in the Windjammer to be very bland.. LOL. Hope you can find a satisfactory resolution. tlund Posted December 15, 2013 #23 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Sailed on the Freedom on 12/1/13 and it was at the Windjammer on the first day. It was also on the room service menu.
karen1821 Posted December 15, 2013 #24 Share Posted December 15, 2013 As far as the white chocolate donuts, they were one of my faves too. Now I just go to Dunkin Donuts and ask for plain, out of the freezer donuts and melt white chocolate chips, spread on top. Just as good.
