maxs mom Posted December 29, 2013 Author #226 Share Posted December 29, 2013 We had no plans for the day here, so we just took our time......got off the ship around 10:30. We walked up to Starbucks....a block behind the Sheraton.... and just chillaxed there for a while and caught up with our e-mail and such.
maxs mom Posted December 29, 2013 Author #227 Share Posted December 29, 2013 It was a beautiful day....very hot. We got back to the ship around 12:30 and beat most of the crowd back. Many people did not know to bring photo ID with them and it was tough for them to get back in. There was a lot of yelling at the security guards by our fellow senior passengers! Now....that's just ignorance. They announced it repeatedly.....it was in the Compass 4 different places....and they reminded everybody as we were getting off. Please! The poor security guards were harried!
sandyk Posted December 29, 2013 #228 Share Posted December 29, 2013 I was just getting ready to write about that. Italian night was the night we were in St. Kitts. I was getting tired of Italian night' date=' but I found a new entrée that I loved. I'll share a picture later. [/size'] Thanks that helps a lot. The Big Booper Posted December 29, 2013 #229 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Needed to lengthen this for some reason before it would post. You have to type a minimum number of characters AFTER the quote to post. Words typed within the body of the prior poster's post don't count. We are doing a week on the Jewel this summer. I am dying to turn that into a b2b. Can I rationalize 4 cruises in a calendar year? YES

maxs mom Posted December 29, 2013 Author #233 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Formal night tonight. Raj invited us again to the Suite Guests party with the Captain, so I went to Vintages for that and met up with some of the other frequent cruisers there. After this .....we went to the CL for drinks. Saw Karen and Dan while w were in the elevator!

Rare itsanita Posted December 29, 2013 #235 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Jane, your review is awesome! thanks so much for taking the time. We will be on the IOS in a couple weeks and are looking forward to a great week. We are only 'D' members, staying in a JS, but the CL and special breakfast area is not open to us, correct? And what email address would we use to try and reserve a cabana at Labadee? thanks again for your review.
maxs mom Posted December 29, 2013 Author #236 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Just a few more: Nice dinner tonight. New appetizer I hadn't seen before: The ever popular spinach dip: And here's an entrée I've never had before. A pasta stuffed with ricotta and spinach. it was delicious. I will definitely order this again.

You can go to the Diamond Lounge on Deck 14 and it is nicer than the Concierge Lounge. We went to the Concierge Lounge on this ship because we are good friends with Raj and wanted to hang out with him every night. And yes.....you are able to go to the special breakfast area in the MDR. When you go into the DR to be seated, tell the guy at the door that you want to go to the Diamond area. So you are in good shape! Have a great cruise!! I believe you can book cabanas on Nellie's Beach on line through the RCI web site. Check it out.
maxs mom Posted December 29, 2013 Author #238 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Good old warm chocolate cake for dessert: This was another dessert that someone had: Great time in the dining room tonight! maxs mom Posted December 29, 2013 Author #239 Share Posted December 29, 2013 After dinner we had another professional picture made: Then on to the casino where we promptly lost more money. I'm slowly but surely losing all the money that I won earlier in the week! Back to the cabin after that. We turned our clocks back tonight. kruzerci Posted December 29, 2013 #240 Share Posted December 29, 2013 I always love your reviews! I would like to do the 6/8 B2B on Independence in the next year or two. Two days in Labadee would be heaven :D. One little question. Is there a reason you generally stick to the CL rather than the DL? I can see gravitating slightly to the CL if all things were equal, but with the gorgeous DL views on Freedom/Voyager class ships, I can't imagine wanting to sit in the closed in CL! When we have booked suites in the past, we have always just gone to whichever one had the better view :p. Anyways, great review!

Disregard that question Max'smom! LOL!! No problem! You know there is no view from the Diamond Lounge after dark!! Oh....I think it is a much nicer venue.....but as I said.....most of the time, we are friends with the Concierge....some more than others. It just depends on who the Concierge is. Raj is definitely our favorite. We keep in touch all throughout the year and try to cruise with him whenever we can. They opened up the entire Olive or Twist area for D/D+/P folks on both sailings and it was jammed both weeks.
Ocean Boy Posted December 29, 2013 #244 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Not yet. Waiting on our passports to be renewed and as soon as we get them back.....we'll book something. Hoping to get a good last minute deal! Hope to go on the Quantum at some time' date=' but we'll let them get the kinks worked out first![/size'] Any chance of you booking something for next month to hold me over until I go in March??:D:p

We've only been on Freedom and Liberty in the months when the days are long ;). That was one perk of being on Oasis last week- we were in a D2, so we did not have CL access, but we really didn't miss the views in Blaze since it got dark around 5! SherriZ366 Posted December 29, 2013 #246 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Thursday ~ Dec. 12th ~ San Juan Good Morning San Juan!! We were already docked when I woke up at 7 this morning. Looks like a good day .....it was hot' date=' hot, hot. CL for coffee. MDR for breakfast at about 7:45. You MUST go to the MDR for breakfast early to get good service and not have to stand in line to get in. Every day when we left the dining room....the line was long, long. long. And they were complaining, complaining, complaining!! Seems like someone would learn not to go at that time! Anyway, that morning we happened to sit by pinkrosesdeb.....the CC member that started our roll call. It was good to meet her and her husband. We enjoyed talking to them. Our night time waiter also served us for breakfast every morning. Nice guy!! From what you said about the cruise's demographics, "complaining is their bread and wine" in addition to being a way of life.
SherriZ366 Posted December 29, 2013 #247 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Loved your sailaway from San Juan pictures -- great shots of El Morro shots. My favorite part of San Juan and sailing in and getting these views. Never sailed out when it was light enough to get these shots.

Daghis Posted December 30, 2013 #249 Share Posted December 30, 2013 We had to move our clocks forward one hour tonight. We turned our clocks back tonight. Interesting... I missed your first reference to the time change, but caught this second one. When I sailed the Eastern itinerary on Independence of the Seas last year, we didn't change our clocks, perhaps because we were already on Daylight Saving Time at that point. I'm hoping that we don't have to change the clocks next March. I invariably get confused when there's a time-change involved while cruising.
