Shareholder OBC question

Can someone tell me if you can get more than $250 OBC per cabin? If husband owns 100 shares and wife owns 100 shares and they stay in one room.
If you and your husband have completely separate accounts, each with at least 100 shares of CCL stock, and book separate cabins (known to happen if you're cruising with children,) you could apply for the shareholder benefit for each cabin. Edited by Pam in CA

I am cruising in March and my cruise is paid for. If I buy the sick now, would I still get the OBC or did I need to own it before final payment?

Yes, there is plenty of time to get your info to Princess.

Anytime up to about 1 week before the sailing date should work. Be sure to take a copy of the proof of your share ownership onboard with you just in case.

Carnival shares have finally climbed towards $40 from low $30 range which is the high of the last 2 1/2 years. Yet they were only $32 only 3 months ago. I almost bought more then but procrastinated too long.

I will sail March 9. Would you wait until February and use January stock statement or do it now with December statement? Or should I just call my broker and have him fax me something current and send that in? This is the first time I will do it.:o

I just do a screen print and fax that to Princess with the info for my trip. We sail Mar 2 and I did it in early December. Got the credit in a week or so.

Is there a period of time one has to own the shares? I have read a couple of times that people have posted a minimum of 90 days? Is this correct? I can't find this info anywhere.
No. Not correct. Here's what the Shareholder Benefit says on the Carnival Corporation website:

"The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2014 aboard the brands listed below. Certain restrictions apply. Applications to receive these benefits should be made at least two weeks prior to cruise departure date.

This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account. Only one onboard credit per shareholder-occupied stateroom. Reservations must be made by February 28, 2014.

Please provide by fax or by mail your name, reservation number, ship and sailing date, along with proof of ownership of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc shares (for example, photocopy of shareholder proxy card, shares certificate, a dividend tax voucher or a current brokerage or nominee statement with your brokerage account number blacked out) to your travel agent or to the cruise line you have selected below."

I've bolded the section above which gives you the criteria for ownership. Interestingly, I faxed my shareholder benefit request for both my January 20th and March 1st cruises at the same time in the same fax several weeks ago after final payment for both. It's been applied to my January cruise but still not applied to my March cruise. I'm calling Princess tomorrow to see what's up. :)

We used an end of November statement for our April sailing. Sent it in snail mail around December 11 and had the credit posted within 10 days. Doing it now with your December statement should be fine.

If we have a joint brokerage account and book two separate cabins, should we both get the OBC, or will they just give the OBC to one of us. The cabins are booked with me and my son in one and my wife and daughter in the other.

We are sailing on 3/30 and I sent my brokerage statement in at the 90 day mark ,which was on 12/30 and the credit showed up on Tuesday,8 days later. On the same day,I sent my request to HAL for a cruise on 4/6 and it posted 4 days later with New Year's Day in the middle.

HAL is very good about getting your OBC applied. It always seems difficult with Princess although I'm sure people will disagree. That has been my experience and no one has to agree with it.

I would have agreed with Cruz Chic except that my most recent experience with Princess was great. It showed up within a week of my faxing the form and my proof. I'm glad that the credit now shows up on the Cruise Personalizer so that I don't have to have my travel agent checking on it for me.

I would submit each one separately; at least a week or two apart. Technically you're only entitled to one if you only have 100 shares. But sometimes technicalities are ignored.

I waited more than 2 weeks and then I called. At that time they applied it. Last time it took almost 2 months.

Princess used to be very good with a super lady, Liza, responsible for it. She moved to a different department and it's gone downhill from there.

I'd sent in three requests in the same fax in early December right after I made final payment and again December 26th. One was applied, not the other two. I called today to ask where they were in the process and was told to send them separately. So, I re-faxed mine in, waited 15 minutes, and faxed my sister's in. Figured that since they were for different people, it would be OK. I'm not holding my breath. :(

Liza McDaniel was outstanding and you could email her and she responded quickly.I will say that my recent experience was good but question why Princess went back to a fax submission rather than email system or a combination of both.

They might just want a paper trail in chronological order without having to print their own.

Definitely if there's 200 shares in the joint account.

If using the same 100, well they would have to be very loosely applying the rules, or not notice, for that to work.

It was wonderful when Liza did it. It took no longer than a few day at that time. It's been a hot mess since.

There might not be a FAX paper trail.

It probably just goes straight into a computer and accessed from there.

There would just be a computer data trail.
