Aussie lost in space Posted February 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Hi folks...dont want to start another contentious thread or debate the negatives of smoking (being a Doctor I know full well). Just after information as to where the smoking areas are now on Oasis. I fully respect RCI's decision to ban smoking on balcony's (albeit I will miss being able to have a private smoke and glass of wine...) though would like to be fully informed about where it is now acceptable. I also respect other people's rights to not have smoke in their faces or onto their balconies. Any help, especially from those who have been on either Oasis or Allure since the ruling changed, would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
glcoop Posted February 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I would like to know if they still allow smoking on the one side of the bar at Boleros Lounge.
Clarea Posted February 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) To my knowledge, the casino is the only indoor area where smoking is allowed. There are also outdoor areas on the public decks (I believe decks 15 and 16) on one side of the ship where smoking is allowed. marklodi Posted February 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Hi, From the Feb 1st Oasis Cruise Compass posted on the boards: "Smoking Policy - We have recently revised our onboard smoking policy, effective for all sailings departing on or after January 1, 2014. Under the new policy, all indoor public spaces on the Oasis of the Seas will be smoke free with the exception of the Casino which has designated smoking and non-smoking areas. Additionally, smoking will not be permitted in the staterooms or on stateroom balconies. Designated outdoor smoking areas are located on the port side of deck 15 and 16. Deck 17, outer deck forward will be available from 7:00pm onwards for any Cigar smokers. This policy applies to electronic cigarettes as well." dplusd Posted February 18, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Oh darn! No smoking on the Promenade deck? I booked a room on deck six hoping to pop down the stairs when I wanted a smoke. I guess I'll have to use the casino when I don't want to wait for an elevator to the top smoking decks.
Langley Cruisers Posted February 18, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 18, 2015 Oh darn! No smoking on the Promenade deck?... This thread and the reply you quoted are over a year old. Thank you very much for pointing that out. I did not realize this was an older thread. On recent Navigator cruises smoking was allowed on one side of the Promenade deck so I never had to smoke in the casino, where I spend a lot of time anyway! Do any recent Oasis cruisers recall if there is a smoking area on the Promenade deck?

Do any recent Oasis cruisers recall if there is a smoking area on the Promenade deck? There really isn't a promenade deck on Oasis or Allure. It's actually a running/walking track. I guess it doesn't make sense to allow smoking there if it's just used for exercising. If you can, you should switch to an upper deck so you have easier access to the smoking areas. jamesr3939 Posted February 19, 2015 #15 Share Posted February 19, 2015 Here is the latest from the RCCL www site. Cigarette, cigar, e-cigarette and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the starboard side of all ships; with the exception of Oasis-class ships that will allow smoking on the port side of the ships. To assist in locating areas where smoking is permitted, guests will find visible signage posted within all smoking areas and ashtrays that are provided for use. Outdoor areas near restricted areas, food venues, and kids play areas and pools will not allow smoking. On Oasis class, smoking is not permitted in Central Park or the Boardwalk neighborhoods. Casino Royale allows smoking and has a designated area for non-smoking guests. There will be visible signage indicating the non-smoking area in the casino. There are select cruises departing from China that will not have a non-smoking area in the casino. Onboard all interior public spaces are smoke free*. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, theater, bar, lounge, hallway, elevator, and jogging track. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom and any stateroom balcony. This applies to all stateroom categories onboard. If a guest is in violation of this stateroom policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass® account and may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. Cigar and pipe tobacco is limited to designated outdoor areas and Cigar Bars**. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard. Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only permitted within the designated smoking areas. Royal Caribbean International kindly asks all guests to please observe the smoking policy. These requests are made to provide a comfortable cruise for everyone. Guest may also inquire at Guest Services for the location of the designated smoking areas onboard. Guests who violate this smoking policy may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of this Guest Conduct Policy. Since the official policy is just general info for all ships it doesn't actually say where the "designated" outdoor smoking areas are since most likely it would be different on different ships. I see that Oasis and Allure it will be port side instead of starboard but is it still decks 15, 16 & 17.

ronandcarla Posted February 19, 2015 #21 Share Posted February 19, 2015 We were on the above ship last Feb and I can tell you that smoking, whether it be cigarettes, cigars and pipes etc, up by the pool area and the floor above on one side of the ship from morning until late at night all of the above was happening every day of the entire cruise; Servers and Bar Tenders taking orders and everybody having a wonderful time with no problems of so called enforcing the rules. Go and have a wonderful vacation, for it only last 1 week for most persons.

James, as you were actually on the ship did you notice if the non- smoking section was actually a segregated area or just this table but not that type of thing? Wave Hopper Posted February 19, 2015 #24 Share Posted February 19, 2015 Did the staff actually ask people to leave if they were smoking and not gambling? No. Even when the casino is closed they usually have the doors open and people will be there smoking.
Trainman-2 Posted February 19, 2015 #25 Share Posted February 19, 2015 Just came off Oasis, port side deck 15 and 16. Also the Casino. That is it. It is the same on the Allure. Our "Designated smoking area" on our recent cruise on the Allure was next to the pool bar.
