Need better service.

I enjoy sailing RCI but I do agree with some of her comments. On Carnival...in a cheap ocean view cabin...we had robes. I would think you would get chocolates in a suite.

I also agree that the smoking section should not be by the ice cream area. Really, that is an easy fix. One trip that we went on, years ago, the rock wall, ice rink, surfing area, were opened limited times. They said they didn't have enough staff...really seemed silly.

I have to admit, giving a drink to an 11 year old seems odd!

Exactly my thoughts ! Troll looking for conflict.

Unfortunately, she is not a troll. Just someone who couldn't be bothered to do the necessary research before booking her trip. And then does nothing but complain when her overinflated and unrealistic expectations are unmet. She was also one of the shrillest antismoking posters on the numerous smoking threads a few months ago, so she knew full well that the ship wasn't totally smoke free.

This poster either needs to come to grips with the real world when it comes to sailing the mass market lines, or stick with the luxury lines in the future. Hopefully that will eliminate some of the egregious whining after her next cruise.

It's been a few years since we were on a Celebrity cruise, but they escorted us to our cabins....also greeted us on board with champagne and orange juice. We usually refused the escort to the cabin because we like to look around as we make our way to our cabin.

We did not have the pool towels in our room that has been the case for a long while, Pool towels are onlyat the pools.and there were non at the pool. They told us to come back in about 20 min and when we did (there our 3 in our cabin ). We were told we were only allowed 2 towels surely you misheard. yes ever since they got rid of the 'swipe yoru se apss card to get a pool towel' deal they may have been a little more stingy at first when dispersong just to make sure everyone has a chance but all you needed to do was send soempne Back to get another towel. . Why would you put the ice cream stand were kids go on the same side of the smoking. That does not make sense? this I agree with but it's not just kids who eat that stuff you know or who do not want to ingest second hand smoke We had a grand suite. It was not towels for 3 people. so? GS are set up for 2. if there is a 3rd party then ASK FOR AN EXTRA SET OF TOWELS. how hard is that? even if you do not meet the cabin steward right awa just leave the guy aote. $5 bill opttional. It did not have robes and slippers so ASK. again they are more than happy to accommodate if they can I was disappointed for our daughter. On all the other ships every night a towel animal was left for her at night. This cruise they did 2 towel animals. okay, really? you would rather the steward waste time making monkeys and elephants instead of getting you those extra towels? its a cost cutting and time saving measure. And at night for the bed turn down she was looking forward for a chocolate on her pillow. again, cost cutting measure and 98% of the time they were wasted. she has PLENTY of options for something sweet at bedtime. The pool server gave my 11 year old a alcoholic drink. We did not order a drink for her They actually said that the drink was for her. and did you bother bringing this to the attention of the bar manager or guest services?!

If I booked a regular state room and if it was just my husband and I I would not care as much about the chocolate ,towel animals, or smoking at the ice cream stand (I don't care for ice cream but my daughter does) but for the amount of money spent for a grand suite I do expect more from a ship. the world does not revolve around your daughter's expectations. the cruiseline could care less she is sailing as she is NOT spending money on booze and gambling on board. time for a life lesson.. you don;t always get what you want. I would like to know who was the geniuses to put the smoking side withe the ice cream?

again I agree with you on the smoking section being next to the soft serve. this is the only one of your complaints I find legitimate( other than the alcoholic drink being served and that could easily have been a mistake/misunderstanding)

seems to me you expect a LOT for the mass market price you paid. if you want to be fawned over, cruise a Luxury line.

Which cruise lines did this?

No pool towels, half of the ship still has a smoking side right beside the ice cream pool area stand ( this was after we got the letter saying that royal Caribbean was going to be non smoking. That was a JOKE)and our room was not stock correctly. On every other cruise line that I have been on this never happened. On every other ship we have always been taken personally to our room no matter what category we booked. We booked a grand suite and was not worth the service

How do you know it had alcohol in it? Were people smoking right next to the ice cream machine?

Re: Location of soft serve frozen yogurt machine on pool deck.

IIRC, on each ship that I have been on, the smoking side IS the other side. Either elstyne's ship (which she has not named, and we can't use the search function) is the exception, or she is simply mistaken.

My purpose of my post was to make things better! and not to trash people (troll)

And yes the server did tell us what the drink was himself. He did this in front of everyone.

I am not 100 percent perfect in my research but I do know what I have had in the past and yes I did expect a better service from royal caribbean.

I still think that royal caribbean does need to have better service. To improve oneself is to move forward and not to go backward

Ps my daughter does not understand how some adults in this forum are rude. Not to good of an example

Thank you

Yes we will go back to the other ships that we have sailed on

I can't believe the complaints - someone either has not cruised for years (1980's?), or they didn't do a very good job of researching the cruise, or their expectations were way too high!

- Smoking IS permitted in certain places

- Robes ARE PROVIDED for certain tier travelers

- Sometimes a ship DOES run out of towels at the pool

Wow is all I can say...............

We were on the Adventure of the Seas 1st week of Feb and the soft serve ice cream is on the smoking side of the ship. I myself did not like walking through smoke to get myself and son ice cream so I agree with this complaint. Maybe not all ships are like that but Adventure of the Seas is. :)

On Adventure, smoking was not allowed in the vicinity of the ice cream machine. If one accessed the ice cream area directly from the lobby area, they would not have to pass through smoking.

Ok, since I am bored and ,no one else has posted it yet. This chick/dude sailed on Adventures of the Seas and was aboard the 02/02/2014 sailing which was the week of the Superbowl.

Her roll call can be found------->here

Or just looking in the usual places for meet and mingles. It appears (s)he did overall enjoy the cruise and will soon head back to Canada if (s)he is not already there based on her/his own posts which are quite entertaining when you consider she called others rude in this very post but one of her own posts concerning potty training was indeed rude. But I am sleep though.... Edited by SassySabby

The ice cream machine we went to was by the pool and there were tables there with the silver ash trays with people smoking... There was no smoking at the ice cream shop on the promenade. Maybe there was another soft serve ice cream machine we did not know about? Edited by ILUVCRUIZN

We were on Adventure 3 weeks ago, and there were no smoking tables around the ice cream area on the pool deck. There were smoking tables forward of the ice cream area, but you did not have to pass them, you could go inside the ship and pass to the port side.

Well, I had a lot of ice cream on those two weeks, and I never had to walk through a smoking area. They were very good about keeping those tables around the ice cream non-smoking, even though they were on the starboard side.
