Aqua Class Question

Recommended Posts

Is it true that AQ class guests get a 50% discount on the specialty restaurants the first night of sailing? We are booked Aqua and will wait to book on board if that's the case. In fact, should I wait to be onboard to book the specialty restaurants entirely onboard? We are planning to do the Lawn Grill and Murano and don't mind later seating's if that's an issue.

Do you just go to the respective restaurants once onboard? Thanks to all for your help!:) First time on Celebrity, but long time cruisers.

Pretty much anyone can get a discount on the first night.

Look for a table manned by waitstaff in the terminal hawking the specialty restaurants and if you don't see someone there, you'll find them set up as you board.

They hand you your glass of sparkling wine and soften you up for the

sale.:)

If you wait for other dinners, you probably will not get the times you want- typically the most popular times are booked up prior to the cruise. If you do not mind dining at 5:30 or 9:00 PM, you can wait.

Enjoy your cruise.

Discounts for the specialty (additional fee) restaurants are not based on your cabin category but on supply and demand.

First night is always slow at these restaurants so they offer deals.

We weren't looking for deals on our most recent cruise as we were booked Aqua and wished to eat all dinner meals at Blu.

Last year on the Summit we were offered 2 for 1 on the final night at Qsine.

On our last two cruises they have offered a bigger discount to aqua class passengers in specialty dining on the first night than to non-aqua cabins. Everyone was offered a discount, but it was more if you were in aqua. I can't remember the exact amounts.

In January on the Summit we had a letter in our room offering 50% off Normandy for Aqua class on the first night. I understand Blu gets slammed the first night so they try to entice people to the specialty restaurants. We checked later in the cruise and could have gotten the 50% discount again. They were pushing the specialty restaurants outside the select dining area and by the pool throughout the cruise with discounts. I don't know if everyone was offered 50% off.

On the first night of a transatlantic on the Silhouette, we were hanging out at the Sunset Bar when a Qsine waiter offered us 50% off in Qsine that night. We turned him down because we wanted to go to Blu our first night in Aqua Class. We said something to the Blu Maitre D' later and he said he'd get us 50% off another night if we liked.

But, that waiter was simply wandering around venues offering the deal, he did not know we were in AQ. Last January, we were taking a family cruise on the Silhouette in verandah cabins and tried for a Qsine discount on the first night. We were told that 20% off was the best offer unless we were AQ.

I guess the moral to this story is that it varies. In any case, I would not book a specialty restaurant in advance because you can probably get a better deal once on board.

To get the times you want, book ahead of your cruise. You will have to pay in full at that time.

Then get on board and go to one of the specialty restaurants and confirm. If you get a deal (nearly always a 50% off is offered first night to Aqua Class) then they will adjust the price, even if you already paid. They'll add it back to your onboard account. We've done this every cruise. It helps to just ask if there is a percent off. You won't lose your times, but if you want to change them or get your discount it's not a big deal. If it doesn't appear corrected on your account, Guest Relations can fix it easily.

You do not have to go to each individual specialty restaurant. Any restaurant can make the reservations for all of them.

If you don't have reservations already, it's a good idea to make that your first stop on board. Go down to Murano or Tuscan Grill or one of the others and get it arranged the way you like.

We have NEVER had this isssue. We book specialty restaurants after we board every time (near the beginning of the cruise - a day or so in) and within 30 minutes of the time we want, we always get a reservation.....most of the time we end up with exactly what we want.
