petesweet Posted April 5, 2014 #176 Share Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) This has been a great review (and the two beautiful girls didn't hurt!!). Thanks. I didn't think you would mind my sharing part of your wisdom on my Carnival Pride roll call board. I gave you credit. Now your fame has spread. Here's what I wrote: "With a tip of the hat to Caneguy on the RCCL board, let's all benefit from his great wisdom. I'm sure he won't mind. :D Kathy "Perhaps the most important part of pre-cruise planning is the anticipation of the increased calories consumed on a daily basis above what we eat while not on a cruise. So most people diet in anticipation of the increase weight gain. WRONG!!! What do marathon runners do prior to running in a marathon? Right, they run more to train themselves for the demand that a marathon places on the body. SO, what someone should really do is start to eat more every day starting about two weeks prior to departure to acclimate the gastrointestinal track for the increased demand placed on the digestive system while on a cruise!" HesterMofet Posted April 6, 2014 #178 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Following your posts! I have really enjoyed it so far! I was going to ask if the brunette was a model, but you answered that for me!
Rare Lionesss Posted April 6, 2014 #179 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Enjoying your review, writing style and pictures. Everytime I see a new post I anticipate more information with delightful pictures. Fun4Us2013 Posted April 6, 2014 #180 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Wow, Avalon007. Lighten up. The girls are beautiful and should be photographed. Sounds like you are camera shy. As far as the sexiness of the pictures, would you prefer a black dot placed over everyone at the pool when a picture is taken? Funny your name has 007 in it. James Bond was the biggest sexist on the planet, Sidney.
CI66774 Posted April 6, 2014 #181 Share Posted April 6, 2014 OP - thanks for your review. Your photographs are lovely and so are your children. That said, I'm a mom and I have to admit I sort of cringed when I saw the subject line and then the modeling photos. I understand your daughter is a model in NYC - but as a mom - the "tone" of the post made me uncomfortable. Call me old-fashioned, etc. - that's ok - it's just my mom instinct kicking in. Thanks for sharing your review.
caneguy Posted April 6, 2014 Author #182 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Your review is really well done. It is always interesting seeing someone's perspective through their pictures; they're really good. We stayed on the ship when we were in Nassau (I never do that) but thanks to the mini-documentary of your day I feel like I was there anyway ;) I am not a CruiseCompass person but I was wowed by your compass display. Nice job! Reviews take a lot of time, especially with pictures. I imagine your wife calling from the other room, 'are you STILL working on that review???' That's time for a 'yes dear, almost done'. Good luck, I hope you get to finish it! Hi Marci22, Would you please pick my lotto numbers!! I laughed out loud when I read your post, that is EXACTLY what I hear from my wife!!..but she understands that I really like to do this review. Glad you are enjoying the review. Thanks for sharing your review. It's why I asked earlier about photos of the rest of the family. I don't mind a review with some family photos, after all it is a vacation not a travel agent preview, but this seemed like we were only seeing one part of this "family". In a response he explained they aren't his girls-they are a friends daughters ...and he posted their family photo above in post 156. caneguy Posted April 6, 2014 Author #185 Share Posted April 6, 2014 DAY 3 AT SEA!! I love sea days, so relaxing and time to explore the ship.. ANOTHER TIP: Take the stairs (at least going down) There is such nice art work on each deck level by the stairs that you must take some time to view them. My favorite staircase is forward, port side. An extra benefit is any calories burned by walking down or up the stairs can be made up with what is my favorite snack on the ship, the Sunflower granola bar at the Promenade Cafe NOTICE THE CHOCOLATE BOTTOM,,,SO GOOD I got up early again and took some pictures of the beautiful sunrise.. LOOKING DOWN THE BEAUTIFUL OASIS WITH THE MORNING SUN
caneguy Posted April 6, 2014 Author #186 Share Posted April 6, 2014 DAY 3 CON'T Getting up early (around 6 AM) also gave me the opportunity to take some more early morning shots of the ship... THE CAR OF THE OASIS.... GLOBE AND ATLAS DOWN THE PROMENADE DECK 4 COMEDY CLUB, STUDIO B AND THE ENTRANCE TO THE CASINO By the way, I did not go to the Casino, so no pictures. caneguy Posted April 6, 2014 Author #188 Share Posted April 6, 2014 DAY 3 CON'T VITALITY CAFE nice fresh fruit, smoothies, and healthy options (extra charge for all food items) After taking the pictures I actually used the gym for a good workout!! Then after cleaning up met my wife and our friends for breakfast in the MDR Breakfast in MDR. I really enjoy breakfast in the MDR. You can order eggs as you like and there is a very nice fresh fruit station. After breakfast it was POOL TIME!! Found a couple of lounges and spent some time sleeping and reading. It was a bit difficult to find empty chairs, let alone 3 or 4 of them together at the time we went upstairs around 10 AM. After a few hours I had enough sun (We live in Ft. Lauderdale and go to the beach twice a week. I also play golf three times a week so I spend a lot of time in the sun, so lying by the pool was not a top priority I spent some time waling around the ship and took some more pictures.. caneguy Posted April 6, 2014 Author #189 Share Posted April 6, 2014 DAY 3 CON'T Well, our friends and their daughters wanted some sushi for lunch so we skipped my favorite lunch THE TUTTI SALAD BAR IN THE MDR and went to Izumi for lunch Lunch is somewhat scaled down at Izumi, there is no Hot Rock selection but if you want some Sushi, it was wonderful. So now at Izumi they do not charge the $10 cover for either lunch or dinner. Miso soup and Endename are complimentary with either lunch or dinner. My wife who does not eat Sushi enjoyed a well made vegetable roll and the Miso soup (then went to the MDR for that TUTTI SALAD!). Everyone else in our group had a variety of Sushi and enjoyed them all. IZUMI AT LUNCH SASHIMI SALAD SUSHI COMBO After lunch I walked around some more and took the picture everyone takes while on either the Oasis or the Allure.. Then I thought, let's have some fun and be a little creative.. not exactly what I had in mind, but interesting none the less..

My wife does not like to have her photo posted on any internet site (not to worry, not on the FBI most wanted, just my most wanted), and I think I look much better behind the camera than in front of it:) Ah - missed that part. Yorkvillain Posted April 6, 2014 #193 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Hello Avalon007,Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. I had a 12 hour C.E. seminar yesterday, got home around 9PM then got a call from the residence where my Mom lives that she fell in the bathroom (she is hurting but thankfully nothing is fractured) and went to spend the night with her before I could get an aide to be there with her. I am sorry that anything I posted has offended you or anyone else that is reading this review. A little background.. when our friends and we booked this cruise I told them I was going to write a review and feature the girls and the girls and the our friends thought that would be fun. I did title the review with the hope that it would draw attention (as it did) to a review that would give some useful information on the Oasis (which I hope that it has done so far, much more to come). I only posted the model pics in a response to a post after I got permission from the daughter and she sent me some pictures. I though that is was all in fun, but again I am sorry if I offended anyone. I guess I was a little tired when I wrote the start of the review and wrote Sidney instead of Sydney. I am glad that you like the rest of the review. I hope you and everyone else will continue to read this review and give me the feedback. So here we go and continue with the start of day 3.. Caneguy, once again great job on this review. You do not need to apologize to anyone on here. Almost every photo review has some pictures of people in bathing suits and/or girls in bikinis. So why are a few people going nuts now? Who cares. And you definitely do not need to apologize for misspelling "Sydney".
kdnurs Posted April 6, 2014 #194 Share Posted April 6, 2014 After reading your post about Izumi not charging the 10.00 cover, ("So now at Izumi they do not charge the $10 cover for either lunch or dinner.") I am reallly confused...I reserved lunch there for our upcoming cruise and was charged 10.00 per person. Wondering whats up with that??? Anyway, I loved your pictures :D
Cruzin-K Posted April 6, 2014 #195 Share Posted April 6, 2014 oooooh, neat idea. I'll have to try this on a future cruise. So far, my attempts at zoom photos haven't turned out too well, but practice makes perfect, right?

Vanilla Posted April 6, 2014 #197 Share Posted April 6, 2014 Caneguy Enjoying the review - we will be on the Oasis in 10 weeks. Loving the pictures and compasses that you posted - so appreciate your time in writing this and scanning all those photos. The pool areas look like the chairs are very very close to each other - are the pool areas smoke free?
