Probably that scam that goes around every now and again. Offering a free cruise but really trying to sell you something. Sort of like the one that is almost like US Airways.

Royal called us a week before a recent cruise to thank us for cruising with them. No upgrade fairy.

609 is a New Jersey area code. Would Royal Caribbean be calling you from there?

Calls will only come from Florida and Oregon. Not from New Jersey. :D (makes me giggle just thinking about it)

Always remember that caller IDs are meaningless. Any business that has their own phone equipment (meaning not just a phone plugged into a jack at home) often has the ability to set their caller ID to whatever they want.

 

I've gotten calls from Royal before and they were always a S. Florida area code, which this is not as others have said.

We got that one, it was "US Airlines." Took me a minute to realize there's no such company.

With VoIP services, the location of the caller-id, or the origination of the call means nothing anymore.

 

A number can legally originate anywhere.

 

So in the case of RCCL, they would make sure that the calls would come from the 305 area code.
