ChipLondon Posted May 10, 2014 #26 Share Posted May 10, 2014 Oh Alphas are not restricted to TAs, we had 2 on a recent 4 night cruise. It happens on a ship in exactly the same way it happens on land, in fact you get faster medical attention on a ship :D
besberry Posted May 10, 2014 #27 Share Posted May 10, 2014 I did a world cruise last year (including a TA and a TP), and obviously on a cruise of around 4 months the age demographic is quite high. We had some Alpha Alpha Alpha's but very few deaths. The first one was a corpulent guy who was on a snorkelling expedition and died as soon as he got out of the water. Most people seemed fit and able and there was a guy in his late 80's who complained that one night there wasn't any dancing! I think it's just unfortunate that there've been two so far on this cruise.

Aquahound Posted May 10, 2014 #30 Share Posted May 10, 2014 Sounds like my HAL cruise. There was an ambulance waiting at every port.
Coralc Posted May 10, 2014 #31 Share Posted May 10, 2014 Are there morgues on the ships? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk According to "Devils on the Deep Blue Sea", HAL ships have larger capacity morgues than the other cruise lines. :)
Steeler Nation At Sea Posted May 10, 2014 #32 Share Posted May 10, 2014 In my limited cruising experience I've had two returns to port; neither were a TA. Allure Western and Oasis Eastern. I figure it is a side effect of the increased passenger capacity on those ships. There's bound to be a higher chance of a medical emergency, regardless of the age demographic.
