Any chance Celebrity will show the Stanley Cup Finals on board?

So the NY Rangers are going to the Stanley Cup finals and we're sailing to Bermuda a week from Sunday. My son is a big Rangers fan. Is there any chance that Celebrity will show the games on board? I know they did not show the Olympics and I'm not optimistic about them having hockey, either. I guess we could find a restaurant/bar on the Dockyard for the one game when we're overnight in Bermuda and see if they're showing it. Streaming it with a phone would be prohibitively expensive, even with my Verizon international data plan (100mb for $25).

Someone a couple days ago posted the dailies from the Bermuda trip and they showed a couple of the western conference games at a specific venue. I would imagine they will show the cup as well

What is even bigger than the Stanley Cup and will be shown ever day from the 12th Jun through 13th Jul is the World Cup - that will take priority over everything and good luck finding crew during the matches

Perhaps, but with the NY Rangers in the finals for the first time in 20 years and the ship sailing from NY, I think the Stanley Cup finals will be pretty popular.

I found the thread with the 2014 dailies:

Ask when you get on board! They had a few games on early in the cruise in the casino when we were on the Summit (Habs vs Bruins) then towards the end of the cruise, by popular request, they put a game or two on in the conference centre.

When we were on the Summit to Bermuda last May there were no hockey games on the TV. They did publish the results in the daily news for Canada and US. I doubt that even if NY is in the finals for the Stanly Cup they will have it on TV. My husband who is a avid hockey fan will not cruise when the Cup is being played. I have never seen them show hockey games on TV on any of our Caribbean cruises. My husband would love it if they did.

Well, I did see at least one game listed on the daily schedule in that other thread. So obviously they are able to do it this year.

I agree with gi_pam, we should let them know that we are interested when we board. Maybe we'll ask during the Cruise Critic Connections party so other people can voice their support.

Hi all,

Good news! We've been informed that all of our ships will be showing the Stanley Cup Finals. One quick note is that every ship may not be able to show the games live, as that will depend where the ship is located at the time of the game. Some games may be on a slight tape delay.

With that being said, we have every reason to believe that Summit will have the games live. Hope this helps!

What about the biggest show on the planet the World Cup - I believe Celebrity is showing all of those on dedicated channels - that event definitely trumps the Stanley Cup by miles

In Bermuda there is a bar by the dock called the Frog and Onion. It will show the games. They also have a great happy hour and some decent food.

There are also a few other bars in the area and since the ship is docked and open all night long you can stay on shore at any bar until they close if you wish.

It will be a great time.

Very interesting. May I ask are the games going to be shown just because it is for the Stanley Cup or is it because NY and whoever wins the next round to be able to play as well. It would be fantastic if you could show all the NHL games on your ships in the winter months I know my husband and a lot of other Canadian as well as American fans would be very happy with that.

I'm sure it's because it is the championship round. I don't think you can compare that to regular season games and expect those to be shown as well. Do they show regular season American football games on the ships? Those would come ahead of hockey.

lgr!

They showed the western games in the conference room and the RANGERS games in the larger venues. You didn't want to be the person with the Habs jersey!

Btw, I'm the person who posted the May 18 dailies!

Go RANGERS

I had the same question in 2010 with the Blackhawks. At that time, there was no broadcast on the ship because it wasn't telecast on an international station like ESPN. I missed games 5 and 6!!!! Ugh!!! Fortunately I had texting back to the states and dvr'd the games. However, Today it may be different with being on all NBC affiliates. From one hockey fan to another, I hope he gets to see it. And since this is BEFORE tonight's game, those Rangers could be facing my Blackhawks. Good luck!!!!

That would depend on who you are talking to and where they come from. Lol. Yes you are right about it being the championships games compared to regular season games as more people view the Stanley Cup games. All I know is my husband would enjoy watching the hockey games while on a cruise. This is a man that has three games a night on TV for the season. Come to think of it maybe it is good that they don't televise them in the ship.

Sailing Alaska last June we were lucky enough to see the game on in Casino...we went to our cabin and it was there too so we're ordered a bucket of beer, pizza, wings etc and cheered on our Blackhawks. It was so much fun!! Sailing, watching the hawks and looking out our balcony at beautiful Alaska!

In January 2014 we had a CS and we're able to enjoy football playoffs on the big screen tv in the cabin. We lost satellite a few seconds here and there. Our butler served us formal dinner in our cabin while DHAKA watched the games..another divine experience!
