What would you want Carnival to do to accomodate

Since Carnival is now denying smoking on your balcony, what would you like them to do to accommodate you as a smoker. Non smokers-please I love you, but unless you are traveling with one, (a smoker) stay our of this.

I would like Carnival to provide a larger outside smoking area, that is as quiet as the Serenity area. An outdoor smokers lounge. Because when all those smokers get together we are really going to tick off all the non smokers...

What would accommodate you, since your balcony wont help anymore?

My husband is a cigar smoker (the most hated of all smokers, lol) I'd like to see Carnival have cigar lounges or bars again...something enclosed, with good ventilation to clear out the smoke. But a place where he can have a drink and smoke with others who share the habit, and mostly a place where the rest of us don't have to smell it as we walk by.

The Norwegian Gem has something along the lines I am thinking of, a room sized humidor, with comfy chairs and bar servers who check in often, fully enclosed with glass walls and door and ventilated. And standing right outside, you never even get a whiff of the cigar smell.

I am a Cigar Smoker.. well not really, I have a few cigars in a small humidor that I may smoke, maybe once every three months, but I do smoke on Cruises, because well I get good smokes there.. ;)

Anyway, on our 12/12 Dream cruise I was very disappointed, that they didn't have a Cigar Bar., and because of sea conditions the Lanai bar was closed the first few nights.. I loved the one on my 9/09 Valor cruise, with high back seats, and the live band, it was a wonderful experience.

With that said, I agree with the OP, somewhere like Serenity that is nice and quiet, preferably that serves drinks and is enjoyable in any weather. (So if it's outside it needs to be well covered. The Lanai worked well, except as I mentioned, it was closed for much of the beginning of the cruise due to rough seas...

I think that is a reasonable alternative.

Fabulous idea!! Thankfully my B2B is at the end of August into 1st of September. So I will enjoy my balcony & my cigarettes (though I am considerate of neighbors).

In the past when on one of the smaller ships without balconies, was trying to find space to cram into the very small smoking areas. Their were never enough tables and chairs on the smoking area of the Lido and the Casino bar area (one-half smoking) was rediculously crowded.

It sure felt like way more than 20% of the pax were smokers.

Oh well, if they won't accomodate us with something like your suggestion, I'll be using an ecig in an interior or O/V cabin and saving the balcony $$.

John Heald, Senior Cruise Director for Carnival (A Cigar Smoker) has said on his FB page, that he has already made it clear to the Beards "The Board" that they need to invest in more smoking friendly locations with this new policy.

You do realize that as soon as they build this awesome smokers bar that the non-smoking militia will start complaining that they don't get to go to that part of the ship.

Me and my smoking friends spent most of our time in the "Majestic Cigar Bar" on the Fantasy.....until they made it non-smoking.

I agree, my husband is the main cigar smoker in the family, but I do indulge in the habit from time to time. We love to smoke together on trips. We have our anniversary cruise book in Feb, but will cancel. As there are no good location for us to enjoy. Casino, Disco and Lido deck are out. We are not completely doing away with Carnival. But they really need to have nicer places for people that do smoke. With out getting the "evil" from passerby's or people sitting out on the Lido deck that do not smoke.

My husband and I like quite places to sit enjoy an cigar and maybe some wine or other fruity drink. We normally only do this right before dinner or late at night.

This space needs to be just for smokers. As I can see this still being a problem. Even with the Casino you still here non-smokers complain. Bring back the cigar bars and that may be a compromise.

Until they solve this, we will not be doing longer cruises with them. I guess in about an month we will be booking with Holland.

I hope that they figure this our before the policy goes into effect. My cruise leave 3 days after the policy change. I have a feeling it's going to be a mess. Oh well I have faster to the fun and if I have an issue finding a smoking area at least I can use the priority line at guest services.

My biggest complaint with the smoking areas on Celebrity. Empty the darn Ashtrays! I actually called in a fire in one of the large ashtrays on an outside deck.

How about the whole starboard side of the lido deck? Including the outside dining area on the Fantasy class ships.(not the inside) Just know that one side of that deck is smoking. And if people complain, point out that the starboard side is smoking and the port side is not. ;)

The problem with the cigar bar is that it is not at the end of the ship-you have to walk through it to get to the comedy clubs, so they obviously need to rethink that-they could enclose the interior of the cigar bar, and have the non smokers walk around us.

My husband smokes but is more of a habitual one. Mostly when he is drinking and after meals. So he is upset with this new policy but just figures he will spend more time at the casino or other smoking places. I personally am not happy about it because I do not like going to sit at the casino very much because it is not ventilated very well (although I have noticed that the people there are a lot more fun and exciting lol). And as for outside on the lido deck, that little area is so small that it will be over flowing now as it already was before. So I think any new improvements of smoking areas will be beneficial, although I am still a big advocate of them having smoking and non smoking balconies! I feel bad for smokers who only want to have one quick cigarette and now have to go to a smoking area to do so that can be over crowded and far from their rooms.

I agree Marshhawk, the problem is that the non-smokers always complain (either verbally or with the fake coughing) when you are in the designated spot, other than way in the back, what we all refer to as the "poop deck". LOL

The Majestic was my favorite place of any cruise ship.

Count me in as one who would kill to have a cigar bar again. Some of my absolute favorite cruise memories are from my Conquest 2009 trip. That lounge was dimly lit, had live music, a reasonable selection of over priced cigars and a bartender who knew what he was doing. It was heaven. Since then they've just made that place non-smoking and shoved us smokers into some brightly lit room where a magician is performing for kids. How on earth was that a good idea for either group of people trying to use the room??

I would like to see carnival open a cigar bar on every ship. Also there's a petition on change.org to request that carnival consider making the port side of the ship balconies smoker friendly. I saw the link on Facebook and within a few hours it was over 1,000 signatures. I seriously doubt carnival would do something like the petition suggest, but one can hope. I fear that with all the smokers now being forced to smoke in the casino, clubs, and open decks that people are going to complain about the amount of smokers stinking up one area they have to walk through. The non smokers are defiantly going to be mad about my strong cigars. I guess i'm going to have to get use to getting cocky looks as people walk by and smell my cigar.

On Splendor there is COOL...a cigar bar/smoking lounge. It. was rarely crowded and I do believe that it was because no one really knew it was there.

Deck 5..across from the Piano Bar.

I went to the cool lounge when i was on the splendor last September. They had a cigar and whiskey tasting i believe there was only one other person in the lounge besides myself. It wouldn't have been to bad if it weren't for the horrible way too loud bad that was playing the whole time.

I would like them to consider ecigs and vaporizers different than regular cigarettes. AND add a cigar bar on each ship... OR if no bar, than take one the decks that are rarely used, usually on deck 5 or so, and turn one side of it at the end into an outdoor cigar lounge, comfy chairs, etc

How about the old topless deck being a designated smokers only section?

Exactly. You are never going to please the non-smokers, be it cigarettes or cigars. If they give us a nice bar, with some live music, they will complain they can't use it. Even if they have 20 nicer bars that you got a free diamond ring everytime you went in, it still wouldn't be enough to shut them up.

They are always going to have a complaint. Maybe if they could throw us over board when they find us smoking then they would be happy?

I recently quit smoking. My only complaint on the cruise was, they need to increase the air flow in the casino. Seriously it was a wall of smoke. It would of bothered me if I was in there sitting and smoking.

I'd be happy if Carnival put back the smoking section back on the Lido. They were taken away on the ships when Guy's and the Cantinas were introduced with 2.0. There's plenty of space, the area is covered and comfortable. $0 to implement.

I liked the smoking section on Epic around the pool area too.

Sent from my phone. Typos are inevitable.
