Bailey & Sophie Posted July 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2014 We're on our first Royal cruise next February (can't wait!!). One MORE question regarding the auto grats: We will be in My Time Dining and will pre-pay grats. Will our daily grat charge be adjusted or will we be charged the full $12 per person per day? Thanks for helping.

The only difference is that you pay them ahead of time, so they do not have to add it to your account daily. It does include ALL your daily gratuities. Kcruiser2014 Posted July 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2014 So I can get off and not have a balance due? This is great!! Good luck with getting off without a bill!!! LOL!!!! It is possible, and you can still have a good time, but there are opportunities everywhere to spend money!! reallyitsmema Posted July 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2014 So I can get off and not have a balance due? This is great!! Yes, if you have MTD, the $12/day is paid in advance. That daily fee pays the head waiter, waiter, assistant waiter and also your cabin steward. If you buy a drink on the ship, a 15% gratuity will be charged on that drink. Those gratuities can't be prepaid since some drink a lot, some drink nothing.

The standard gratuity pays for dining room staff, stateroom attendant, and other housekeeping services.
cb at sea Posted July 14, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 14, 2014 If you pre-pay, then ALL the grats are done.....except for room service tips (if you use that service!).

The full amount of all gratuities are prepaid at final payment with MTD. $12 per person per day in a standard stateroom and $14.25 per day per person if in a suite. There is no remaining gratuity balance due charged to your SeaPass card on board. Edited July 14, 2014 by leaveitallbehind
Rare CruisinCrow Posted July 14, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) So I can get off and not have a balance due? This is great!! Theoretically, yes. We've never managed to pull that off. :) Edited July 14, 2014 by CruisinCrow

And for as many tipping threads as there are, I had never seen this addressed before. (Well, that I paid attention to...)
