Have a question about the mini suites on the Sun

We have a mid ship balcony cabin on Deck 9 - like it because it's below cabins and above cabins - on the Norwegian Sun

When I called Norwegian to ask about another question, the agent said she would also check to see if my price has gone down. She said it wasn't low enough but there were plenty of cabins left and suggested I call back in a couple weeks to see about upgrading to a mini suite for free.

Not sure it would be worth it if we are stuck on Deck 10 (below the pool deck) or even deck 11 which is also below a kiddie pool and other public rooms. I like being between decks with cabin - less noise

For those who had mini suites on the Norwegian Sun how were the cabins and the noise? Being closer to the front instead of mid ship - is the movement worse then mid ship?

We were in a Sun mini, forward. No noise problems, no motion problems. One of our favorite staterooms ever! In fact, it spoiled us for other NCL mini-suites! They are unique to the Sun. Large, walk-in closet, full bath, really special!

If you can get either the bow or stern facing minis, I suggest you do so. While they are below the observation lounge, there is little noise and the only place we heard it was in the toilet. Both bow and stern staterooms have large balconies.

I agree. We had 1001 in 2008. We loved it!! Huge room and great bathroom/dressing area. Our daughters were in the connecting balcony room 1002. Their room was larger than ours! But they had a regular bathroom. Balconies were awesome! !

We were in mini-suite 1005 (port side) and had no issues what so ever with the noise or the motion of the ship for that matter. We just loved our Cabin and were lucky enough to be 3 cabins away from Clay, the Guru (as far as I'm concerned) when it comes to info about the Sun, and really enjoyed ourselves with our roll call group. Hi Clay ! lol.

Not forgetting about valleyvillage, but he's a wealth of info about the Sun as well. So when ever these 2 gentlemen chat about the Sun, I stop and listen ;).

The room that is available in a mini-suite is MUCH more than any other mini or balcony cabin in NCL.

We will be back on board next year in Sept. for Alaska, can't wait.

cheers...the Ump...:D

If offered an opportunity to select between a Balcony or a Mini-Suite - ALWAYS

TAKE THE MINI-SUITE !

If getting the Mini-Suite as an Upgrade seize the moment !

More room; better accommodations; generally a full bath and vanity especially

on the NCL SUN.

Was on the NCL SUN SB Alaska 7/2013 had Mini-Suite 1010 (although it is on

deck 11 [Pool Deck] port side forward).

Convenient to just about any where you want to go on the ship except for the

aft most MDR (though the Alice in Wonderland Looking Glass rabbit hole of

elevators and stairs).

Motion wise the inside passage of Alaska rarely gives a bum ride but even

out to sea before entering the passage a smooth ride.

As a rule you can expect up-down motion in the forward (bow) end of the ship

and side to side motion in the aft (stern) end therefore in the center mid-ship

would be the smoothest least motion experience.

Noise wise - one problem noted the adjacent cabin shares the same common

wall with entry doors right next to each other. When someone leaves the next

door cabin and is not careful the cabin door slams with great force shaking the

common wall and someone visiting the next door cabin when they knock on

the door it is as if they were knocking on your (my) door. Minor annoyance !

As for noise from decks below - not happening - and from the deck above

again not a factor. Portions of the Mini-Suites on the Pool Deck are under the

Observation Lounge and the night time entertainment is rather subdued and

ends early around 11pm. Nothing else on this deck to cause any noise - a

chapel - a limited hours bar - an extension of the art gallery - and the BEST

PART OF THE SHIP THE OUTDOOR OBSERVATION VIEWING AREA just in front

of the Lounge

Would not hesitate to seize the moment and book a Mini-Suite on the NCL SUN

in the future.

AND just a reminder the Mini-Suite DOES NOT have Suite privileges and the

price difference would give you a heads up on this.

I had one on the Epic last year - they were offering free upgrades when we booked so it was nice. All your posts want me to get this even more - there are a lot of regular balcony rooms and other rooms available on our cruise so I'm hoping now we get one.

Thanks again to everyone

  • 2 weeks later...

When I called back I was told to call later this week but the price difference was pretty inexpensive (originally it was pretty high). we decided to pay the small extra cost now and are getting mini suite (MX) cabin so thanks for all the replies again they were really helpful and made us excited to get one
