PG Has Fallen Apart

I never said "more than 50." The number was someplace between 45-50, I'm not sure exactly how many.

I apologized for my error on the cruise fare. Get over it.

RZ3 and I were on the same cruise and both had the same impression, it was not up to luxury cruise standards, and was like the mass market cruises we've been on. We paid a lot of money for a mass market cruise.

Post #63 of this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2038160&page=4

You said 50 or so which means more than fifty. AND that thread is still on the first page.

So yet again you make contradictory statements and are abusive towards thise who dare question you.

As stated, why cant "YOU get over it"?

We will if you will.

Will what? I'm not going to stop posting my opinion of a cruise that you can't have an opinion on because YOU WEREN'T THERE. Your constant harassment of every post I make is bordering on a notification to the mods.

50 or so means "around 50" which is not necessarily "more than" 50.

It seems I'm not the abusive one.

The whole concept, IMHO, of this site is to be able to post our opinions about our cruises and identify what issues, if any, we encountered. It is not productive to question the validity of prior posts as by definition, opinions are just that. I realize that factual statements accompany these posts and I for one can't criticize a post since I was not there.

I would think that this entire thread has served its purpose and if there was a way to officially close a post this should be done. I don't recommend removing the thread (not that that could be done anyway) as there are many important issues mentioned that others should read when deciding if this cruise is for them.

I for one read all the posts and then decide if the issues brought up are important to me. I am not saying the issue did not happen. As an example, I don't own and iPOD nor do I listen to music. For me having a docking station does not matter but for others it may. I dive and snorkel and issues pertaining to that are important to me. It is also interesting that many, many threads include the same issue specific to one PG staff member yet she continues to work on the ship and apparently has not "changed her ways". I think many would agree that when the same issue is raised by many, many people it is probably a valid issue.

It does appear that we all agree that the FP region is very unique and most of us would love to return year after year although land based vs cruise (and which cruise) vary. I realize I can't change behavior but it would be great if nobody responded to me and we simply let this thread move on.

Have a great day.

FYI, they ran out of fins in some sizes on our cruise. My husband took the last pair in his size, three guys after us were not happy when told there were no more. I had forgotten about that until FlightMedic mentioned snorkeling.

Are you serious? What difference does it make, 45 or 50? I have been avoiding this board because of a few abusive bullying posters; now that one of the worst is gone, I thought posters might be kinder. Guess I was wrong.

Everyone should be able to post their own opinion here without being harassed and knocked down. If someone doesn't like your preferred cruise line, why do you care? It'd a better chance for you to get the cabin you prefer!

Yeh right, thats why a certain poster harasses anyone who says something positive. Going so far as to try and twist positive posts into negative ones. And then when responded to in kind she cries "I'm a victim of mean people". Pull the other one this one has bells on it.

Admittedly, I am a PG lurker contemplating a FP cruise in the near future. Come on people, It is a cruise. We all have been "oversold" on what we will get. SeaDream is a wonderful small ship all inclusive experience..... When they are. Some times, they drop the ball or have kids on board, etc. The hostility on this board is rather disturbing. If you don't like it, don't do it. Sort of the reverse of the '60s "If it feels good, do it!" Just one persons opinion.

I think most of us are still awaiting a response from the OP, what happened to this person?...my pet peeve is when someone posts a few selective words and then avoids our questions.

The OP has allegedly done over 20 cruises and yet has just joined CC this month to make this sinlge post. Hmmmm, something smells fishy and it aint cause we pulled up at the wrong dock.

It would be lovely to hear names of the crew members on this sailing…. Elmo? Cesar? Voltaire etc; it must be nice both for the repeaters and for the long time crew…. thinking mutual admiration. Please send sea mail to us!

Each person has a different perspective on what makes them happy. I can only tell you my recent experience on the PG was absolutely fabulous. The welcoming of the crew and excellent service made it a spectacular cruise. Perhaps it was meeting Elmo in the bar within the first 30 minutes of boarding as he made such a great first impression on us. Phillip in the dining room and sommeliers Francisco & Eduardo really stood out as well. It was our first time on the PG, but not our last. We did the Fiji to Tahiti itinerary and it kept getting more and more beautiful as the days progressed. We met many wonderful people, both other guests and crew members. I spent 2 years planning this trip and was a bit worried that I had set my expectations too high. The PG exceeded my expectations and made this one of the best trips ever!

I am so glad you enjoyed your experience.

I always hunt down Elmo the minute we have checked in and have our glass of Champagne! Mostly to hear him say "Oh, hello Mr Steve...Welcome Home!" I just can't hear that enough!

...we we heard "no" a lot more than "my pleasure." I also will never forgive the major service issue with the housekeeping manager insisting on going through my entire cabin--drawers, closets, under the bed looking for items I had reported missing even though I kept telling her that I was in the middle of dinner. It was beyond rude and incredibly disrespectful.

We are thinking of booking again in the next couple years. What were some of the things that were denied? That may have some impact on our decision.

We are thinking of booking again in the next couple years. What were some of the things that were denied? That may have some impact on our decision.

A few things...

I practice yoga daily. Obviously the cabins are too small to practice in, and there is no room in the fitness center. The decks were soaking wet in the morning, so they weren't usable. I asked if I could use the floor in the main salon early in the morning. The hardwood floor would have been ideal to put my mat on. There was no one using it during that time, nor was it being cleaned. Yoga is a silent practice, no running/music/spinning noise, nothing that would disturb someone in a cabin below. Yet I was told "no."

We were seated in La Veranda for lunch. We asked for one of the wines that was included with our cruise package and which we had been told would be available at lunches and dinners. We were told by the server that it was only going to be available at the bar by the casino, which wasn't open at the time. Turns out that wasn't true, they had a selection of those wines in every restaurant at every lunch and dinner.

We booked the vow renewal package which when we booked it included dinner with an officer. We inquired as to which night that might be so we could book La Veranda. We were told "No" because they had changed the program. It wasn't all that important to us, but it did annoy us that they had changed the program after we had booked and not told us.

I asked for one of the entrees to be prepared in a slightly different way one night due to my food allergies. It would have been a very simple thing to omit the nuts that garnished the dish. I was told "No" and to choose something else.

My husband asked our cabin steward for a few extra hangers and she told him "no" and said there were no extras. (I think that a lot of our negative experience was caused by the cabin stewardess whose behavior bordered on disturbing.)

Those are off the top of my head, I'm sure there were other examples.

None of these things were major by themselves, but they impacted the overall experience in a negative way.

Wrapping up our 6th PG cruise and it has been amazing. The staff and crew go above and beyond to please you. The meals have been delicious, non stop bar service, afternoon tea. Our room was kept spotless and all the staff seem to love what they do. It's like we become part of their family while we are here. It's been fun hanging out with fellow repeaters like Twin and Friscorays. Enjoyed meeting Miriam and family and many more. We loved our two days at Motu Mahana and the Bora Bora Motu. We saw whales in Tetiaroa and dolphins in Rangiroa. I got a few more black pearls. How lucky are we! Can't wait to come back again. Soon I hope.

Just to name a few, we had Rudolpho bring our breakfast in the morning. Christian was our waiter most nights. We had Florizel, Ryan, Eduardo, Ivan, Rey. I wish I could remember all the names because they sure remember ours. From Reception, to the travel desk, to Rizzi in the spa, Elmo, Efren, our cabin stewardess Mary Grace, the Gaugines and Gaugins. They are all true professionals and a credit to Paul Gaugin Cruises. It's why we keep coming back.
