You can buy bottles of wine from any bar. Just ask them not to open it if you don't want to drink it at the time.

You can also buy multiple bottles from the Viva Vino package (do a search for details). That way you can get a decent discount if you want 4 or more bottles.

They give you slips which you can then exchange for the bottles. Again, ask them not to open it if you don't want to drink it straight away.

You can buy bottles, open or not anywhere onboard.

You can buy a bottle, have one drink and then take the rest to your room.

We often get a bottle of wine at dinner. And sometimes a 2nd one. If not finished we either fill the glass and walk out with it or take the bottle with us to the room.

You may also bring your own wine onboard for a $15 corkage fee per 750ml bottle. We found it easier to buy the Vivo Vino package, which starts at $88 for 4 bottles plus gratuity. They sell the packages in the Atrium when you board or at any bar.

Keep in mind the cheapest bottle of wine will be around $30, and retails close to $5. We bring wine and pay corkage, but we drive to the port.

This is correct if you are just buying bottles individually, but if you buy 4 or more then they start at $22 each (plus 15% gratuity). It is still cheaper to carry on, but not necessarily by enough to make it worth the effort.

Exactly. I can get wine for $4 a bottle on sale, so I would save $3 a bottle if I brough my own (or I could get Three Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's and save $4 a bottle). Not worth it to me to haul the wine onboard and we drive to the port also.

Question about wine. If you buy one of the wine packages and a bottle is opened at one restaurant and you don't finish the bottle, do they mark the bottle, keep it for you and then you can have it at any other restaurant? This is what all other cruise lines do.

Thanks,

Marg

Yes, they will.

Or you fill you glass and take it with you.

Or take the bottle with you to your room.

Or take the bottle with you to another bar.

Or, have them mark it and hold it.

True. Unless you want to bring wine on board that you like and not settle for NCL's offerings. ;)

There are five programs for purchasing beverages on board:

The first is the Soda package (pop etc).

The second is the Corks and Caps package (a Wine and Beer package).

The third is what I think the OP is making reference to the VIVA VINO package

See details below after the forth package.

The fourth package is the Bar-Set-Up program

See details below after Viva Vino.

And the fifth and last is the UBP - Ultimate Beverage Package (see NCL site for

Yes, and that's exactly what I do. Bring a couple of my favourite bottles onboard and also get Viva Vino as well.

I was just making the point that the pure financial saving isn't necessarily that great.
