lschnauz Posted November 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Would appreciate if anyone knows approx cost for 2 for the above, also are their plenty of cabs available for such a short trip. Thanks so much:)
Rare teacherman Posted November 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2014 It is usually $15-20 depending on traffic. We have never waited more than 10-15 minutes for a taxi. That can also depend on how many ships are in port that day.

rucruisn2 Posted November 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2014 If anyone is not familiar with the area, the port is maybe 5 min. for the airport.
Sloop-JohnB Posted November 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) If anyone is not familiar with the area, the port is maybe 5 min. for the airport. As the crow flies... ;) Traffic patterns / traffic can definitely make it a tad longer We have family in Fort Lauderdale... We have often taken cabs airport to port, port to beach area (hotel strip on A1A) ... Seems everything ends up in the $ 20 to $ 25 range once you add in a tip. Cab service all over Fort Lauderdale is really good, rarely do we wait more than 5 or 10 minutes curbside, and almost never call for a cab day or night. Cheers! daju22 Posted November 9, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Hello, Will someone please tell me which cab company you recommend for Ft. Lauderdale? I want to have the number to call if needed. I know that they will give us the next available cab at the airport and port, but we'll need a cab while at our hotel etc. Here's the list of cab companies. Which should we pick? http://www.yellowpages.com/fort-lauderdale-fl/taxis?g=Fort%20Lauderdale%2C%20FL Thanks.
aurelius180 Posted November 9, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2014 We did it about two weeks ago. With light traffic the fare was $15.xx plus tip. There were about 6 cruise ships in port at the time and we still had no problem getting a cab.
DaveOKC Posted November 9, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Did it 2 days ago on a Friday from a Holland America pier. Traffic was light. Fare was $14.50 plus tip. DaveOKC
marysb Posted November 10, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 10, 2014 Once off the ship, is it easy to grab a cab, or should we reserve shuttle transportation to FLL?
DaveOKC Posted November 10, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 10, 2014 Once off the ship, is it easy to grab a cab, or should we reserve shuttle transportation to FLL? I have never experienced a wait for taxis at the pier. Others have, likely difference is how busy the port is and the time you get off the ship. mvaygibson Posted November 14, 2014 #14 Share Posted November 14, 2014 We took a taxi this past Sunday, 11/9. The cost for 3 adults was $15.00 plus tip. We did not reserve ahead of time, there were 5 ships in port and we waited about a 1/2 hour for a taxi. We got to the airport (FLL) around 11 am for our 1:15 pm flight. Ashland Posted November 14, 2014 #17 Share Posted November 14, 2014 I am on a tight agenda . My flight leaves at 11:55 am. Should I prebook a taxi? No not necessary at all with this flight time...be in one of the earlier groups off also no need to self disembarke with your luggage...using a porter may help to speed things up if you're concerned. Ashland Posted November 14, 2014 #19 Share Posted November 14, 2014 Thanks for your helpful reply. Do know what time breakfast begins on Carnival ships? I would check directly with the Carnival board...but more than likely it's 6-6:30am.

twindaddy Posted November 24, 2014 #23 Share Posted November 24, 2014 How hard is it to get a van taxi at the airport and pier? We are a family of four, and I am not a small guy, so a sedan might be tight. I doubt it would fit our luggage also.
