would anyone cruise on a ship like this?

Not me! I won't even cruise on the ships with water slides, bowling, etc.

I cruise for the cruising experience.

Of course, for some people, water slides, bowling, miniture golf, climbing walls, belly-flop contests, trivia contests, casinos, etc. are critical aspects of the cruising experience. That is ok by me as long as the screamers don't disturb my peace and quiet.

I was just wondering and interested if a cruise ship offered an amusement park atmosphere....such as carny games and such... cotton candy, funnel cakes? Just random thoughts i've had. thanks

Noticed this is your first post: Welcome to Cruise Critic! :D

While we would not find this appealing, it is an interesting question.

We do miss the ever shrinking library on RCI ships. The last "library" was about one and a half shelves. And we hope our trip on Westerdam will have a better library.

The problem with the libraries on most ships is what do you do if the book has already been checked out? I guess that this is the downside of so many people having e-readers or maybe they just do not know how to read.

Perhaps you might give Celebrity a try. On these ships you take the books you want to read on an honor basis. No checking out necessary. Celebrity treats it's guests like adults and trusts them to return the books when done. Many of the books are "donated" by passengers who brought them on the cruise and left them behind to be used in the libraries. Here are the libraries on two Celebrity ships:

Guess I'm in the minority but my family would love that.

Aside from the fact that many ships already do have these things(has no one in this thread been on one of the Oasis ships or Epic?), we often travel with family with several in the 0-12 year old age range. Amusements would be perfect for us.

I assume the OP is saying the ship would also have some of the "normal" cruise ship amenities as well?

Great, let the kids and kids-at-heart use the merry-go-round, bumper cars and eat cotton candy. Those who don't want to partake can go to High Tea, art auctions and listen to pianists in the atrium without the bother of kids running amok.

I don't see how this makes us low class or "those types of people" as inferred in this thread. We like to have a good time and when you are a group with ages 0-80 on 1 ship for a week, having options that appeal to everyone is a big plus.

It's not my cup of tea as a cruise. I, unlike some who cruise for a destination, simply cruise to cruise, I really don't care if I don't get off the boat.

However I've got a good mate who would love it, he has never cruised but is interested in the ship with Dodgem cars, so I would probably be persuaded to join he and his good lady.
