Finally Achieved Diamond Status, now what?

We are getting ready to take our first cruise as Diamond members.

 

What is the best thing about being a Diamond member, and what are some of the secret things Diamond members get?

 

Do we need to stand in line to get ice skating show tickets, or will the concierge hook us up?

Congratulations! Not gonna lie, it's pretty wonderful. Not all the ships have Diamond lounges but if yours does, then you will have Diamond Concierge access to help you with certain things. Personally, ice show tickets and the like are not what we're in it for, but the DC on our Serenade cruise did confirm our airline reservations and printed out our boarding passes. :)

 

Bob's right, the balcony discount is fabulous. Our next cruise we have 2 cabins booked at a savings of $325.00 each. Very nice.

 

The Diamond C&A coupons will be loaded directly onto your Sea Pass card, ready for you to use when you want. The 60 minutes of free internet is great.

Make sure the concierge shows you the secret handshake on the first night. Oh, and be sure to wear clean underwear for the initiation. It kind of fun to have the Pinnacle and D+ members throw you into the Solarium pool.

Congratulations! Now, you will have to work to achieve Diamond Plus status.....

and when you finally achieve that, there is Pinnacle.....

And when the Pinnacle level is no longer exclusive enough, I have high confidence RCI will create Pinnacle Plus....and when......:D;)

Drinks, drinks and more drinks. 3 free per night nearly anywhere on the ship between 5 and 8 30 and a majority of the bars never document anything so you can really have as many as you want. Free booze, if you're a drinker, is a HUGE savings from here on out for you. Congrats and enjoy your new status.

Just got off the Oasis on Dec 13th and any bar you went to, during the happy hour hours, would see diamond on your card and hand you whatever you wanted. No paperwork was ever done. The only places you couldn't use were the champagne bar and the dining room.

 

It was an excellent benefit. It made going to the actual diamond lounge really a moot point as during the happy hours, it was always more crowded than any bar on the ship.

DH and I are both D so we each get a free picture and free internet time. . . and of course the evening cocktails are nice. We tend to cruise off season and on longer cruises. So, there are always many D and D+ on the ship. the D lounge is usually VERY crowded. We have found the casino bar to be the least used. We often take our drinks to the Promenade deck to watch the ocean or head back to our balcony.

Now you can pretend you own the ship and look down your nose at the other 3000 paying guests, oh and don't forget to complain the whole time about what they are not doing for you since you paid the same or less than everyone else on the ship. And we will be in this elite group on our next cruise!

Already got the balcony discount, we are staying in 1388, (so I think we got the best balcony on the ship).

 

A few months ago I did get an email about the drinks anywhere program during happy hour, apparently Navigator is participating in that. ;)

 

So do the diamond members get off the ship early in port, or is that only if you booked an excursion? Same question about when the ship gets back to port at the end of the cruise.

There is priority disembarkation at the end of the cruise, but not in ports. If you have a ship's excursion booked, they are usually off the ship first.

When we made Diamond, did not think it was that big of deal...D+ is a little better, but not much....especially when you think about what you put in to get there in terms of $$

It's my opinion, but I think the whole C&A thing is over rated and borders on a scam....there is so much more they could do to reward "Frequent Flyers" but they won't because they don't need to...

We cruise because we like to cruise.

I don't think it's about doing all they can to reward me, it's about giving me enough extra perks to keep me loyal. So far it's worked. Now if they keep messing around with flimflammy "sales" and dynamic dining and such, those perks won't be enough to stop me me from giving another company a try.

My parents just made Diamond and my Dad likes to enjoy a martini at dinner (Mom doesn't really drink). They don't really go to the bars on the ship, so is it possible for him to use his 'free' drink for the martini he gets in the dining room? I've read that the free ones don't count in the dining room, but if they have 6pm dining time, doesn't that fall into the 'happy hour' timeframe? If it isn't allowed, is he allowed to get it at one of the bars and bring it with him to the dining room? This seems a tad tacky and I doubt he'd do it, but asking just in case.

The drink vouchers cannot be used in restaurants, no matter what time it is. Get the drink at a bar and bring it into the dining room.

To save you from future complaining....;) remember that it is a promotional program that can change at any time.

Enjoy what so many have told you of here, go to the website as it lists what you now are eligible for and enjoy each and every one as they last because things do change!!
