Rare Cruise Junky Posted January 11, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2015 You'll see nothing of true Haiti on Labardee. You have nothing to worry about.
donaldsc Posted January 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2015 While Ladabee may be on the island of Haiti, it really is totally isolated from Haiti. You could be anywhere and you are not exposed to the real world if you are on Ladabee or any of the other cruise line owned islands or beaches. Rare LMaxwell Posted January 11, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2015 They have halted calls there for unrest in the past but Labadee is not near the capital and has a big fence lined with guys with big guns. So you will likely call there and have zero issue
wwcruisers Posted January 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2015 In that aspect, Labadee is sort of like Disneyland -- most people never notice the fence and armed guards at the perimeter. You do notice it when you zipline, since the vehicle transporting you to the tower has to go outside the gates. But, the peninsula is still remote. The only things we saw outside the fence were goats and chickens.
