What can you spend OBC on?

Just about to cruise in February.

 

We will have $100 OBC and also intend to purchase the next cruise offer for $250 where an additional $100 is added to the OBC. Therefore $200 OBC in total.

 

My question is can any of this $200 be paid against the "next cruise offer"

or as I have read elsewhere can the $200 be "laundered" so to speak through the casino.

Pretty much OBC can be spent on anything other than the daily service charge. DH and I typically get the future cruise certificate on the last day. This $100.00 OBC just appears as a credit on the bill.

The credit from the Future Cruise Credit will go directly to the reward itself. If you did nothing else you bill would look something like this:

 

Charge: Future Cruise Reward- $250

Credit: $100

Amount due: $150

Because you have $100 OBC it would then reduce this to net due $50.

 

 

It is possible for those that have OBC to go to the casino and have the money put on your card for a 3% fee.

Not always, if the OBC is from NCL promotion, they won't always let you cash it out. I had $300 of my purchased OBC and $100 from NCL. When I tried to cash out in the casino, I was told I could only get my $300. So I then stopped at the watch shop and spent the NCL $100.

Basically everything you buy on the entire cruise is added to your shipboard account. It will all be charged to whatever card you placed on your account, minus whatever you have in on board credit. So anything you can buy, souvenirs, specialty dining, excursions, drinks, spa services, etc. can be paid for with OBC. The only exception to this sometimes is the Discretionary Service Charge.

No, it will be $50 because they have $100 OBC.

Yes, You buy a FCC for $250.00 You tell them you want to use the entire amount of OBC in the Casino. For doing that they give you a %25 bonus. They load the money on a card and you use the card to gamble. You put the card into the machine then enter a pin and put a specific amount on to the slot machine. If you put it on a slot you can not retrieve it or move it. So put $20.00 and play it out, don't put $100.00 because you will have to stay on that exact machine until it is all used.

Some don't understand how non refundable OBC works. You don't tell anyone that you want to buy something with your OBC. It is a credit on your account. Any purchase you make will automatically use it up. So if your first action on the ship was to buy a future cruise credit, you would have a balance of -$50. That is a negative $50. The FCC cost's $250 minus the $100 credit they give you, then they would take the $100 you came on board with leaving you owing NCL $50. It is used against any purchase made except the DSC.

Then you can play the machines. But...only put a little on a machine, because you need to play whatever you put on it.

Us exactly the same. It just shows up at the end of the cruise and something, be it a specialty dining room, the bar or whatever is adjusted.

The machine keeps track and when you are ready to get up hit cash out. It might give you 15.00 but look at the machine and make sure $5.00 isn't left on it. If it is you have to play it out.
