Ken at the beach Posted August 6, 2015 #951 Share Posted August 6, 2015 Fill me in please.... I am also a Canadian cruiser.... I don't want to read all 967 post to find out the final answer but I feel like someone had already answer my question... So with the OBC I had the same confusion... I paid via travel agency for my October cruise.... Bought all online dining excursion in CAD as well... Bought a 25 dollar OBC but also charge my credit card for 25 dollars CAD..... Does that mean I will get $25 on board credit in USD? I was assuming that they would charge me at $30ish dollar for the $25usd..... Can someone please clarify?... Of this is the case... Or when will the funds be exchanged to USD??? Please help.... Been calling NCL AND MY TA they both said I will get 25 in USD which I believe it's too good to be true..... Help!!!! Did you make a typo and mean RCL. If your credit card was charged $25 CDN then you would only have an OBC of about $22.50 US. It's not a straight exchange. Have you actually seen your CC statement. Maybe you purchased $25 US and will be charged $27.50 CDN
davidsmum Posted August 6, 2015 #952 Share Posted August 6, 2015 Hmmmm new credit card cycle coming up. Won't have to pay for it until the beginning of October. I think I will purchase another OBC. the magic is in the timing! :)

hoorayy Posted August 6, 2015 #954 Share Posted August 6, 2015 Can anyone tell me what happens to your money if you have a large credit left over at the end of the cruise? We are interested in buying a watch on the ship for $2800-$3200. We would like to purchase $3000 U.S. For the 10% exchange. If they do not have the watch we are looking for, can we receive the credit in cash on the last sea day?

hoorayy Posted August 6, 2015 #956 Share Posted August 6, 2015 That high of an amount? Unfortunately I have pre paid gratuities drinks etc... So my bill will not be that high. Having it go back on my credit card is not so favourable
d10k6 Posted August 6, 2015 #957 Share Posted August 6, 2015 If you are worried you can always pull $500 or so a day out of the casino so your final balance isn't as high. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just curious how to withdraw money there my understanding is you set your account up as a "cash account" and then you can withdraw at the Casino for no additional charges. Just curious how to withdraw money there If your onboard account is secured with a credit card, they will charge the 5%. If your onboard account is a cash account, there is no service charge. davidsmum Posted August 6, 2015 #964 Share Posted August 6, 2015 I believe they will allow you to spend $500 over and above any OBC before asking you to settle up with them.

Hopetotravel Posted August 6, 2015 #969 Share Posted August 6, 2015 So when do you designate your account as a 'cash account' ? Is it something that you do online or is it when you get there ?
Ken at the beach Posted August 6, 2015 #970 Share Posted August 6, 2015 So when do you designate your account as a 'cash account' ? Is it something that you do online or is it when you get there ? On line as you complete your set sail pass. You can also do this at the pier at check in.

Hopetotravel Posted August 6, 2015 #972 Share Posted August 6, 2015 OK, thanks. You guys are a wealth of information. This is our first cruise and I can't imagine how we would have made out if I hadn't have read all of these cruisecritic threads. I haven't posted much but I've read tons of posts. :)
Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 6, 2015 #973 Share Posted August 6, 2015 On line as you complete your set sail pass. You can also do this at the pier at check in. Can you start as a cash account and add you credit card towards the last day or two? I want to avoid waiting in the line on the last day to get any remaining cash at the guest services, and I like the idea of getting cash at the casino without fees during the cruise. The idea of having the credit card added on the second to last day would be to cover any final charges such as a meal or drink on the final day or two. Therefore I wouldn't have to visit GS to pay for the $40 in charges. Is this possible?
