Rare richstowe Posted February 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2015 We are sailing Sunday on our first Princess cruise and have a couple of questions. Is there a casino charge (like 3%) to purchase chips for blackjack from your ship-account ? We have purchased a bottle of vodka . Is tropical punch of some sort served in the buffet to mix it with ? Is this just at breakfast ? On previous cruises we have "stored" some punch in a thermos for later use as punch isn't available from the juice dispensers after breakfast . Does Princess provide a daily (very mini) newspaper ? What about crosswords ? I am trying to think of any other questions. Thanx for any info . Is there a casino charge (like 3%) to purchase chips for blackjack from your ship-account ? I loaded $$$ on my casino account, was never charged any fee. We have purchased a bottle of vodka . Is tropical punch of some sort served in the buffet to mix it with ? Is this just at breakfast ? On previous cruises we have "stored" some punch in a thermos for later use as punch isn't available from the juice dispensers after breakfast . Have not seen any punch offered. Does Princess provide a daily (very mini) newspaper ? What about crosswords ? Daily activity paper is the Princess Patter, no crosswords I am trying to think of any other questions. Thanx for any info . See above.....
Rare richstowe Posted February 27, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted February 27, 2015 Thank you for the quick response ColoCruiser . What kind of juice or punch are available ? BTW , do you serve yourself from the drink and coffee dispensers ?
cruzsnooze Posted February 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2015 In the library every day is a new trivia challenge. They are usually in a wooden tray to help yourself to one. I don't know if you'll get caught bring Vodka on board as alcohol isn't allowed except for wine. If you want fruit punch I suggest buying a box of the stix like Hawaiian or crystal light and make your own if it's important to you. The water on a ship is better then bottled water on land. Colo Cruiser Posted February 27, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) Only self serve dispensers in the HC are hot water/ice tea/coffee/decaf/water/ice. Lemonade is available on request. Edited February 27, 2015 by Colo Cruiser

Rare JustinPlusLauren Posted February 27, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2015 I think you can get pineapple juice at the bar but it might cost extra. You could probably bring on a bottle of punch if you'd like!
ggprincess2004 Posted February 27, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2015 You can order juices - orange, grapefruit, tomato - for breakfast in the buffet or from room service in the morning. They are also available in the dining room, but not 'to go". Just put some in the mini-fridge to use as mixers.
Thrak Posted February 27, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 27, 2015 You could also order mocktails or purchase the Ultimate Soda and More card which will give you all the soda, mocktails, etc. you like. The card (including gratuity) will cost you $8.05 a day for the entire cruise. Mocktails just increased in price from $4 each to $5 each. The card is an excellent value and the mocktails make a great mixer.
partybarbie Posted February 27, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) I like vodka and cranberry, so I usually bring on 4-pack of Ocean Spray or something similar. That way you can open one bottle at a time and don't have to try and fit the big bottle in to the mini-fridge. I almost forgot, but I also bring one of those plastic squeeze limes with me. You can get the fresh limes at the bar, but sometimes I don't feel like leaving the cabin to get some. Colo Cruiser Posted February 27, 2015 #12 Share Posted February 27, 2015 Not totally positive...but I think that is only at lunch. Thats what I thought but I asked for it on the Emerald (same cruise as yours) and they had it. :D
chloe45 Posted February 27, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 27, 2015 I bring Cranberry juice with me to mix with my purchased vodka. They have cranberry juice on board ship. I think you can get it free in the buffee at breakfast but you have to ask for it.
cardqb Posted February 27, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 27, 2015 As with other posters, never seen punch to add to our vodka. But we do request lemonade from the Horizon Court buffet waiters and they will bring us a glass or two to use as a mixer. It's nothing like the lemonade dispensed 24 hours a day on Carnival, but does make a good mixer with vodka! You can also take a flask on-board with you, empty of course.. and we leave the cap open for x-ray in our carry on. And maybe a small funnel to fill it! ;) That way you can pour your vodka and mix your drinks wherever you are. Enjoy your cruise!

A flask never entered my thought process as I know one can't take booze onboard. An obviously empty flask though... I'll bear that in mind for possible future use. :D
Eddieboysr Posted February 27, 2015 #16 Share Posted February 27, 2015 I bought the vodka from Princess and it should be waiting for me. This is not meant to be a smuggling thread .:D Can't you take it on as a mixer? I've done that before when I purchased alcohol from princess. Similar to taking a 12 pack of soda or a case of water? Lovetocruiseprincess Posted February 27, 2015 #18 Share Posted February 27, 2015 Don't bother bringing any mixer. Just bring a large plastic water bottle (empty or full) ;) and at breakfast in the Horizon get a large glass from the bar & ask for OJ or cranberry juice to store in your fridge for use later in the day. There are no self serve units but they'll give you as much juice as you want during breakfast. Lemonade is available all day.
Coveguy4 Posted February 27, 2015 #19 Share Posted February 27, 2015 You can also get cranberry juice or pineapple juice delivered to your cabin in the morning from room service. Just write it in on the card you are given.

Cruisin' Chick Posted February 27, 2015 #21 Share Posted February 27, 2015 You can get lemonade from any server in the Horizon Court (it's kept in pitchers, not the dispensers). I pour it into my beverage mug. I'm not sure it it's available 24/7, but I have also been able to get it from the pool area in the afternoon, too. You can bring non-alcoholic beverages on board. My hubby likes grapefruit juice late at night so he brought a bottle that he kept in the fridge. The juice in the Horizon Court during breakfast is made-from-concentrate. The juice from room service is in a small glass but you can always order multiple servings when filling out the room service card to have "breakfast" delivered. I often order multiple juices for the morning as I find the serving size smaller than I want.

comcox Posted February 28, 2015 #24 Share Posted February 28, 2015 It's been many years since I've sailed Princess and I have three sailings booked for this year so I'm looking for up to date info on milk on board. I'm a big milk drinker--well at least the chocolate kind. Is cold milk or chocolate milk available in the HC? If so at what times of day? What about hot milk in the morning? I travel with my own cocoa mix but it needs hot milk, not hot water, for mixing. From my experience on other cruise ships cabin fridges are never cold enough to store milk. Is this true on Princess as well?
Rare Essiesmom Posted February 28, 2015 #25 Share Posted February 28, 2015 I think whether the fridge is cool enough depends on how long you want to keep the milk, or whatever. To the OP...Crystal Light and some other companies make lots of flavors of 'juice', etc. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_1?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Acrystal+light+drink+mix&keywords=crystal+light+drink+mix&ie=UTF8&qid=1425133568 The ones that come in the little squirt bottles would be particularly handy to carry around, just under 2oz to make 24 servings. I posted the link just to show what is available, but you can buy them at WalMart and any supermarket. check around, try some out and see if anything is promising. I find that not every market has the same flavors, so shop around. EM
